The Third Sunday of the Great Fifty Days – April 30, 2017


 

Today, we welcome the RSCM (Royal School of Church Music) St. Cecilia Choir visiting from St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Greenwich RI,  The choristers sang for us at a parish-wide spaghetti dinner last night, and we are thrilled to have them with us today adding magnificently to our worship of God.  Thank you!

Welcome, New Mainers, Wednesday, May 3, 6:30-8pm

You are cordially invited to a coffee/dessert on May 3, 6:30-8pm in the auditorium to meet and learn from some of our newest Mainers, including native Burundian, Constant, who worked with the African Union and United Nations before emigrating to the US and who now seeks to become an interpreter here in Maine.  You will enjoy short presentations from Constant and others, fellowship, and opportunities to become informed about how to become involved with this wonderful community.  A sign-up sheet is available in the Parish House.  FMI:  Becky Pride, Anne LaFond, Jennifer Gregg

Falmouth Habitat 5K Run and Walk - THIS  Saturday: 9 am start

Great community event for all--runners, walkers of all ages, family and pet friendly-- as you help provide decent, stable and affordable housing for those in need.  Continental breakfast, prizes (cash and other!)  Rain or Shine!  Registration at Saint Mary's at 8am; runners start at 9am, walkers follow. The Casco Bay 5K: Run for Young Life: Saturday, May 20, 9AM

NOTE: This has been changed to a 5K to increase participation. All are invited to run or walk the same course as the Habitat event with all proceeds supporting Young Life Casco Bay.   9 AM start at Saint Mary’s. Spring Mission Morning: May 21

Make plans now to come together for spring projects out in the community to spread the good news of God’s love in Christ. Our Contemplative Eucharist will take place at 8 AM as usual, then we gather for projects at 9 AM in the Auditorium. Lunch follows at 11:30 back in the Auditorium.  

 

Souper Suppers:  2nd & 4th Fridays of each month

Twice each month, anytime from 5 to 7 pm, any person can come to our Auditorium for a free supper of soup, bread, salad and desserts. No questions asked. No donations accepted. Each table is served and bussed. And community is created. Come and try it!

 

Falmouth Food Pantry

Collecting weekly for those in need in our local communities.  FFP is always in need of hot and cold cereals; canned meats and fish; canned soups (especially healthy and low sodium; canned fruit (especially light or in juice.) Thank you for your generosity!

Christian Formation and Youth Notes

Guiding RAY (Religious Adventures for Youth)

On regular Sundays from September to June, we begin Family Chapel, a special time for children & families to be with Fr Nathan, at 9:30am followed by programs for our youths in many forms at 9:45.  The nursery also opens at 9:30 for our infants and toddlers to 3 years old. 

This week....There will be no Guiding RAY classes so that we can all participate in the service that will feature the visiting St. Cecelia Choir from Rhode Island, a Royal School of Church Music choir. 

The first three rows of the sanctuary will be reserved for Guiding RAY families on Sunday. FMI, please contact Megan Akers at GuidingRAY@smary.org

Young Life Club:  Every Monday night at 7:31pm

The Second Sunday of Easter – April 23, 2017


Navy Reserve Officer Commissioning: April 23 at 1 pm - Sunday afternoon

Everyone is invited to this ceremony in the Sanctuary (we’ll sing the Navy hymn!) followed by a simple celebration in the Auditorium.

Bridge – a – Thon: THIS FRIDAY, April 21, 12:30-4pm - Reserve your table now!

Enjoy an afternoon of bridge - or any card or table game for four - at Saint Mary’s. Good fellowship, sumptuous refreshments, prizes for high scorers, all for price of admission ($48.00 per table/$12 per person) Call Beth Shaw 781-3366 to reserve your spot!  All are welcome.

 

 Don’t play Bridge or cards?  For those who can't or don't wish to play cards that day, we would greatly welcome tea-snacks (tea sandwiches, sweets, savories) for this event.

Habitat for Humanity 5K Run & Walk: Sat., May 6, 9 AM

We are thankful for all the families who have partnered to provide stable, affordable housing in our communities. The Falmouth Foreside 5K Run and Walk on Saturday, May 6 which kicks off from Saint Mary's at 9 AM (Registration begins at 8 AM).  A wonderful event for all ages and levels!!  You can also Register for either the Run or Walk at

Guiding RAY (Religious Adventures for Youth)

On regular Sundays from September to June, we offer programs for our youths in many forms.  The nursery opens at 9:30 for our infants and toddlers to 3 years old. 

This Sunday, the Guiding RAY kids will watch the Veggie Tales movie "The Duke and great pie War” The film is a delightful tale inspired by the biblical story of Ruth and Naomi. The film runs 45 minutes, so we will begin promptly after Family Chapel and we will join the familes for communion in the church sanctuary at the normal time. The movie will be shown in the youth room downstairs and  The movie is rated G.   Click here to watch a preview

Next week....Next week....There will be no Guiding RAY classes so that we can all participate in the service that will feature the visiting St Cecelia Choir from Rhode Island, a Royal School of Church Music choir.  Please plan on joining and welcoming the RSCM kids on Saturday for a special spaghetti dinner at 6:15pm! The first three rows of the sanctuary will be reserved for Guiding RAY families on Sunday. If your child would like to participate in the service (i.e. usher, lead the prayers of the people, present the gifts), please contact Megan Akers at GuidingRAY@smary.org

NEXT Weekend!  Meet the visiting Choristers on April 29- 30

The RSCM (Royal School of Church Music) chorus from Saint Luke’s, East Greenwich Rhode Island is coming to Saint Mary’s! The young choristers will arrive Saturday, April 29, and we will provide lunch for them. Children and their parents can observe their 1:00 pm rehearsal Saturday afternoon followed by some downtime.  The whole parish is invited to join them at a Saturday night spaghetti dinner (volunteer kitchen help & servers needed!!) at which the St. Celica chorus will sing for us.   Sunday, April 30, we will welcome them as they sing the anthem during our 10 AM liturgy.
