Coffee hours on September 16th hosted by the Kneelers Guild. There will be a display of Kneelers and you will have the opportunity to Gift a Kneeler to honor or memorialize a loved one. Please join us after either service for this informative and beautiful morning.
Vestry Nominations
During the month of September, the Nominating Committee will be seeking nominations for 2019 including:
· Vestry – four openings for 2019, 3-years terms
· Senior Warden and Junior Warden – both positions open for 2019, 2-year terms
· Treasurer – 2-year term
· Delegates to the 2019 Diocesan Convention
You can submit your own name or someone else’s. We are seeking one -two Diocesan Convention delegate (along with the wardens and treasurer) and three alternates.
Nominations are open through September 30, at which time the Nominating Committee will review names and make recommendations to the parish for a slate to be voted on at the Annual Meeting in late January. Nomination forms are available in the narthex, outside of the Guild Room or in the parish office.

Souper Suppers: 2nd & 4th Fridays of each month
Twice each month, anytime from 5 to 7 pm, any person can come to our Auditorium for a free supper of soup, bread, salad and desserts. No questions asked. No donations accepted. Each table is served and bussed. And community is created. Come and try it!
St Elizabeth’s Jubilee Center in Portland
St. Elizabeth’s is an exciting mission effort of The Episcopal Diocese of Maine. Supported by eight local Episcopal Churches, including Saint Mary’s, St. Elizabeth’s celebrated the 12th year distributing non-food essentials, clothes, and small household items to the most needy among us.
In addition to distributing essential items not covered under the federal food stamp program like: diapers, bar soap, toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, shampoo, laundry detergent and deodorant, St. E’s serves as a gathering place where people chat with friends The Pantry is a non-barrier program serving on average 250 individuals each week, many of whom are immigrants and refugees for whom English is not their primary language.
Falmouth Food Pantry – serving the needs of citizens in Falmouth and surrounding communities for over 25 years. Food and supplies may be dropped off at church on Sundays or in the Parish House during the week. FFP is always in need of hot and cold cereals; canned meats and fish; canned soups ( especially healthy and low sodium; canned fruit (especially light or in juice.)
SIT is a program of ProsperityME
offering no-interest loans for security deposits to new immigrants. Each borrower is matched with a housing coach as a support and advocate on issues raised by apartment-living in a new culture. Can you give a few hours a month to assist in this housing program for immigrants?

Our Guiding RAY programs are for all young people ages 0 to 14. We use a curriculum that is scripturally-based and consistent with Episcopal theology and spiritual practices. Join us for a Blessing of the Backpacks at our 10:15 am worship service. We are inviting students of all ages (yes, that means college students and adults heading back to school) and teachers to bring your backpacks or work bags to church. We want to honor and bless you with our prayers and celebrate the start of the 2018-2019 school year. And to help with “Project LOVE” for the Ronald McDonald house, let’s all fill our backpacks with snacks to share!

Gatherings & Events
Kickoff Cookout & Carnival: This Sunday - September 9
Join together for our festive Kickoff of a new program year. FORMATION groups will gather to share information at 9:30 am. In addition to new formation programs & discussion groups (Christianity and the Episcopal Traditions, The Way of Love, or Be Still) in between services every Sunday, our Choirs, Guiding RAY, the Middlers will all be gearing up for another great year. Plans are coming together now for games and food as part of this year’s Kickoff celebration.
**NOTE that our Choral Eucharist will begin that day at 10:15 AM – fifteen minutes later than previously. FORMATION groups will meet from 9:30 to 10. Come and learn more about these groups and our plans for the new program year.
Sparkles NEWS: Mark your calendars for December 1
Please stop by the Sparkles Table on Sunday at the Kickoff picnic. Pick up a 2018 Newsletter so you’ll know all the dates and events associated with Sparkles 2018, and take a themed gift box to take home and fill. You fill them and return them to the church by Sunday, November 4, and we'll see that they are wrapped and ready to sell at the Sparkles Boutique on December 1.
Knitters----we need your handmade items for sale at the boutique. Also, if you have yarns, fabrics or other notions that you are not going to be using, please donate them for sale as well. For more information, call Barbara Murray (799-1326).
Children’s Area—don’t forget our youngest customers. We need children’s toys, especially large items like bicycles and play areas, books, and sports equipment. Small items like figurines, vases, and decorative items are great for the kids only shopping area.
Jewelry & Accessories—we need vintage, new and handmade jewelry, and fashion accessories, i.e., scarves, purses and evening bags, belts, shawls, etc.
Boutique—we could especially use more china, silver, and crystal sets, as well as linens and Christmas items.

Common Ground on Thursdays
Beginning on Thursday, September 20, we will gather for weekly events which will combine food, fellowship and community engagement. Our first Common Ground will feature a slideshow and discussion with the Ferrell family about their time in Ecuador.
The basic structure is:
5 - 7pm Potluck-style dinner. Take a break from cooking a whole meal. Bring a piece or just eat what we have. If you can’t imagine eating early, come and enjoy fellowship and discussion. Open to everyone!!
5:30pm RSCM rehearsal & training OR
5:45-6:45pm We will host individual or panel discussions on topical issues in our community. The first will be Nathan’s sharing about his sabbatical time including pictures and stories from Ecuador.
6:45pm Compline Service in the Fr James Chapel and clean-up

Chapel Eucharist: Thursdays in the Chapel at 12 noon
This is an informal time (in a beautiful space!) to gather at the Lord’s Table with a meditation on the scripture or the saint of the day and prayers for healing.
Wisdom Seekers: Tuesdays at 10:30 AM
This Bible study group meets weekly in the Guild Room. Everyone is welcome! We will be reading the scriptures for the coming Sunday. Join us!
Noonday Prayer: Mon - Wed in the Chapel
Pause for 10 minutes of prayer together. You are also invited, wherever you may be, to STOP and PRAY with us in the Spirit at 12 noon for those in need, for our parish family, our bishop, and our own daily life with God.
