Summer Worship Schedule

NEXT SUNDAY _ AUGUST 3rd -  ONE Joint Liturgy  at  9AM

Regular Summer Sunday worship is at 8:00 and 9:30 AM  (from June 22 – Aug 31.) There will be no Guiding RAY classes or Middlers, but there will be nursery all summer.

Mass On The Grass: Wednesdays at 6:30 PM. A brief, informal, outdoor Eucharist that is interactive and multi-sensory and appropriate for all ages. Bring your own lawn chair and/or blanket. If inclement weather, we’ll gather in the Chapel.

The Thursday noon Healing Eucharist and Spiritual Reflections with Deacon Christine  will both take a brief hiatus during the summer months.  Please join us for Noonday Prayer in the chapel.

 

 

 

Urban Promise Pilgrimage: August 3—9, in Camden, New Jersey

Our team is preparing for this trip to Camden, NJ and Philadelphia in early August, but EVERYONE can participate in making this Pilgrimage a success! Here’s how:

1.            Pray for our Pilgrims before, during and after this adventure. Pray that we can discover the presence of Christ in new and deeper ways through our time with the children of Camden. Pray for our safety in travel, and that this may be a true pilgrimage: an intentional spiritual journey to draw near to God.

2.            Between now and August 3, bring school supplies to fill up backpacks for students who need help preparing for the new school year. Some supplies will also be used in the classrooms at the CamdenForward School and the UrbanPromise Academy. See the full list below!

3.            Join us on FOR ONE LITURGY on Sunday, August 3 at 9 AM as we send out our team of Pilgrims on their week-long journey to Camden.

Preble Street Soup Kitchen:  THIS  Sunday, July 27 

Just do it! Your presence is needed. The Fourth Sunday of each month, Saint Mary’s prepares and serves a hot meal to the clients at the Preble Street Soup Kitchen.  We need people to (a) go around 10:30 to help with the cooking and set-up; (b) to arrive about 11:45 to assist with table service; and/or (c) to help with clean-up beginning at 1:00.  Questions?  Please call Marian McCue at 761-1936 or mmccue@maine.rr.com

We offer free community suppers on the second and fourth Friday of each month in the auditorium of S. Youth Ministry Notes

Guiding RAY (Religious Adventures for Youth): 

On regular Sundays from September to June, Guiding RAY offers Godly Play, a program that helps children to explore their faith through story, to gain a religious language and to enhance their religious experience through "wonder" and play during which they  learn about God, the Bible, and the Church.  We kick off the new Guiding RAY season on September 7  with our  "Welcome Home" Festival. Mark your calendars!

 

Guiding RAY Summer Nursery Care

Though Guiding RAY classes end on June 8th, Nursery Care will continue throughout the summer from 9:15-10:30 thanks to the devoted service of Alison Hayward and several volunteers.  Thank you! 

Camp BION for Teens @ Bishopswood:  August 19-23

WE STILL HAVE A FEW SPACES LEFT! Archery, kayaks, shaving cream games, swimming, ultimate Frisbee, campfires, s'mores, team building games, beads & hemp, music and lots more. An awesome 5 days away for our teens (all who have completed 6-12 grades) to explore faith, have fun, and make new friends. Nathan+ will be one of the clergy leaders. Saturday, August 9:  S. Mary's 10th Annual Lobster Bake & Auction

To be held on our lawns, weather permitting. Beginning at 4:30 pm, rain or shine, join fellow parishioners, family and friends for fun, fellowship and feasting. Lobster/Steamer dinner= $30, BBQ Chicken dinner= $10, and grilled burgers and hotdogs= $5. The Auction Committee has received many live and silent auction items thus far. Kindly consider donating an auction item to this event.  Can you offer a service or an experience? If you prefer to underwrite any portion of this event, your monetary donation would gladly be appreciated.  We are looking for a co-chair for this wonderful annual event; if interested, contact the Wardens or Betsy or Jim Stoddard.

 

Sparkles NEWS

Cleaning closets?  Downsizing?  Closing an estate?  Be sure to consider donating your unique items, family treasures or gently used household items to the Sparkles Boutique.  Donation dates will be in the Fall but if you need to clear now and need help with storage, please call Jan Mordarski (899-4099) or Onnie Hastings (878-6683)  and we will make arrangements.

NEEDED for Sparkles------we need a new chairperson or persons to help with the Schola Reception and another to help with the making of the boxwood tree decorations.  

Both are short-term but much needed positions-----if you are so moved to help with either area  PLEASE Jan Mrodarski or Onnie Hastings.

Noonday Prayer at Saint Mary’s

Every weekday at 12 Noon there is a brief gathering for prayer in the Fr. James Chapel.

Please join us any weekday for Noonday Prayer, and remember to pray for one another at 12 Noon every day, no matter where you might be. What a great way to lift each other up!

Buildings & Grounds Request

Does anyone have or have access to a log splitter and a 20” or longer chain saw for B & G men to cut and split downed trees on the property, so they can be used as an auction item for the upcoming Lobster Bake & Auction?  If so, please contact Jim Stoddard ASAP at jbstod@myfairpoint.net  or 829-2026.

Mindful Movement and Breath Series: starting again on September 15

FREE AND OPEN TO ALL – invite your friends, family & neighbors!

Enjoy six Monday morning sessions that seeks to connect the body, mind and spirit.  Each class is structured around a universal meditation/intention, threading quiet movement and breath through a musical journey designed to create space for each participant to move more deeply into themselves.  These movements may be done from a chair or the floor, so they are suitable to all ages and physical abilities.  Held in the Auditorium.  Offered at no charge to the community at large.  Bring a friend!

Calling All KNITTERS!   The Knitters Corner needs YOU to knit goodies to sell at Sparkles,  Mittens, hats, scarves, baby items and felted bags are always popular items.  Items are priced by the knitter.  If you want more information or have early donations,  please call Barbara Murray (799-1326)  If you want to clean out your "stash" save those and bring them in on drop off dates in the Fall.

 

Calling All  ARTISTS and CRAFTERS;  We would like to have one or two more artists to display and sell their work at Sparkles.  A table is provided free of charge and the artist divides their sales 50 - 50 with S. Mary's.  Please call Jan Mordarski (899-4099) for more information.

FREE Bike Safety Clinic and lasagna dinner – July 12th

The Bikers and Builders are coming!  …To Saint Mary’s during the weekend on July 11-13.  This group will be doing the Coastal Drift route from Bar Harbor to New York City stopping along the way to increase awareness about the need for affordable housing.  They will be working on the Freepost Habitat for Humanity house while they are here as well as conducting a Bike Safety Clinic at Saint Mary’s for the community at 6pm on Saturday, the 12th.  Then join in on helping and attending a lasagna dinner before they give a presentation on the mission of Bike and Build and their trip.  Plan on joining us and the community in welcoming and learning from this passionate, energetic group.

Enjoy a six week class that seeks to connect the body mind and spirit.  Each class is structured around a universal meditation/intention, threading quiet movement and breath through a musical journey designed to create space and drop each participant more deeply into themselves.  These movements may be done from a chair or the floor, so are suitable to all ages and physical abilities.  Held in the Auditorium.  Open to and offered at no charge to the community at large.  Bring a friend!

Godly Play: Christian Formation for our young people

On regular Sundays from September to June, we offer a Montessori-based program called Godly Play to learn about God, the Bible, and the Church with our children.  We gather again on September 7 for our Welcome Home Festival. Mark your calendars!

 

Guiding RAY Summer Nursery Care

Though Guiding RAY classes end on June 8th, Nursery Care will continue throughout the summer from 9:15-10:30 thanks to the devoted service of Alison Hayward and several volunteers.  Thank you! 

 

Camp BION for Teens @ Bishopswood:  August 19-23

Archery, kayaks, shaving cream games, swimming, ultimate Frisbee, campfires, s'mores, team building games, beads & hemp, music and lots more. An awesome 5 days away for our teens (all who have completed 6-12 grades) to explore faith, have fun, and make new friends. Nathan+ will be one of the clergy leaders. Saturday, August 9:  S. Mary's 10th Annual Lobster Bake & Auction

To be held on our lawns, weather permitting. Beginning at 4:30 pm, rain or shine, join fellow parishioners, family and friends for fun, fellowship and feasting. Lobster/Steamer dinner= $30, BBQ Chicken dinner= $10, and grilled burgers and hotdogs= $5. Every weekday at 12 Noon there is a brief gathering for prayer in the Fr. James Chapel.

Please join us any weekday for Noonday Prayer, and remember to pray for one another at 12 Noon every day, no matter where you might be. What a great way to lift each other up!
