26 January 2020 – Annual Meeting Sunday

Annual Meeting: January 26 – Come one and Come all

9:30 AM – one combined Eucharist

9:30 AM – Guiding RAY classes (Nursery open as 9 AM as usual)

10:30 AM – brunch and all-ages intergenerational activity

          Please bring cut-up fruit and/or breads (ie. sweet breads, muffins, bagels) to share if you can.

11:30 AM – business meeting

We are looking for new Bell Ringers!

Interested in joining the Saint Mary Handbell Choir? Some degree of reading music is preferable, but we chose music according to the abilities of the handbell participants. If interested, please contact Bruce Fithian at bsfithian@aol.com.

Stewardship 2020: Make a Joyful Noise

      Joyful Noise - Thanks to the 101 families who have pledged.  Our joyful noise is the sound of our parish staff back at work after a well-deserved break and the 2020 schedule beginning!  We are not there yet. We have at least 55 households who haven’t made their pledges.  Please take a moment to do so.

2020 Souper Bowl of Caring:  show our love of neighbors

Join the Guiding RAY kids to collect many, many cans of soup! Through this mission, we will learn what it’s like to make a positive difference in the world – as we work to collect food for the hungry and gain compassion for those in need. Please give generously anytime or any day leading up to Super Bowl Sunday (February 2).  Every can of soup (low-sodium preferred) we collect will be donated to the Falmouth Food Pantry, our Souper Bowl of Caring charity of choice.

Souper Supper: 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month

Free soup, salad, bread, dessert and beverage suppers, served family-style in our Parish House Auditorium; open to anyone and everyone. Join us sometime between 5 – 7 PM as a diner or volunteer to help serve.  FMI, contact Jennifer Gregg  (jenniferanngregg@gmail.com or 781-2665).

        Youth Ministry

Guiding RAY (Religious Adventures for Youth): Sundays, 10 AM   

Our Guiding RAY programs, for all young people ages 0 to 14, are designed to both appeal to and offer our children an opportunity to learn key bible stories and to develop their relationship with God.  Classes for pre-K through grade 5 and IGNITE (Gr. 6-8) begin at 10am   For more information on Guiding RAY, visit our website www.smary.org

The Nursery is open for our youngest parishioners every Sunday, 9 – 11:30.

This week in Guiding RAY  ***Please note time changes due to Annual Meeting
9:00 - Nursery opens and Guiding SAY with Maria
9:30 - 10:30 Guiding RAY – kids will stay downstairs for the whole service as we finish our Moses rotation with The Ten Best Ways, have some popcorn and a Veggie Tales. All ages (Middle and High School, too!) are welcome.
10:30 - 11:30 Breakfast! And an intergenerational Faith Family banner project
11:30 - 11:45 Business meeting and Sledding! Guiding RAY has a few small sleds and please feel free to bring your own (and snow pants, etc.) We have a great hill out by the goat path that is perfect for sledding during the business meeting. We will need a few volunteers to skip the business meeting and supervise sledding.

IGNITE - Middle School Youth Group:!  Ignite next meeting is February 9! Join us at 10:00 am in the youth room for games, a lesson and fellowship. All kids in 6-8 grade are welcome and bring a friend! On February 9, parents are invited to join us during coffee hour to learn more about Wyldlife, a Christian ministry that reaches out to middle school, high school and college-aged kids in all 50 of the United States as well as more than 90 countries around the world.

Guiding SAY (Singing Adventures for Youth): Sundays, 9:35 AM   Before Guiding RAY classes begin, all young people are invited to gather downstairs with our own Maria Belva for fun singing. No special skill or experience required, only a willingness to sing together FMI contact Maria at mariabelva@gmail.com

Wisdom Seekers: Bible Study on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 AM

Every Tuesday morning, a group gathers to study the Scriptures appointed for the upcoming Sunday. It is a great way to prepare oneself for Sunday. Some stay afterward for NoonDay Prayer. All are welcome to join the group at any time.

Merton Group:  Spiritual Formation each Thursday at 3 pm

Here is a small, spiritually diverse, inquisitive, tolerant, open- minded, and supportive group of “seekers.”  Each week we pray, read aloud from a chosen book, reflect, question, and grow.  Feel free to learn more or test the waters.

Time to update the Saint Mary's Members & Friends Directory

Time to update all of your data (email, cell phone, address) so we can distribute it with correct info at the Annual Meeting on January 26!  The best and quickest way is to sign into Realm and update your own. If you have not yet signed in, look for a recent invitation from OnRealm or Saint Mary’s to join and we will send another soon.

If you absolutely cannot do that, please check the draft copy of names and information outside the Guild Room or at circulating at Coffee Hour.  Or contact Beth in the parish office (781-3366) with any changes or updates (admin@smary.org) Please do it TODAY!

Saint Mary’s and Family Promise Join forces

Be a part of the Saint Mary’s team that will assist Falmouth Congregational Church when they house Family Promise clients 4 times a year for a week by cooking and delivering a meal for twelve to FCC.  Thanks to Judith Fergin, Toosie Smith, Alice Brock, Susan Conway, and Merle Marie Troeger for jumping in to prepare the meal for January 22.  Our next opportunity will be on May 3!  Can you help?  FMI, visit www.greaterportlandfamilypromise.org or contact Jennifer Gregg, jenniferanngregg@gmail.com

This week in Guiding RAY  we continue to learn about Moses and how God protects His people. God had a plan for Moses and God promised to be with him just as he promises to be with us. God said He would supply all Moses’ needs, just as He promises for us. Thank you to our leaders for this rotation, Emily and Ben Rogers, Maggie Gardner, Jill Stevenson and Heather Teng.
