Saint Mary's eNEWS for 6.21.15

Saint Mary’s Weekly News

June 21, 2015 – The Fourth Sunday after Pentecost

Thank you, Sylvia Infantine, for covering for Bruce in the organ loft this morning!  We appreciate the sharing of your talents with us and look forward to having you back with us later in the summer.

A SHOUT OUT to our Bruce who is biking in the Trek Across Maine this weekend.  The Trek Across Maine is a 3-day, 180 mile cycling event from the mountains of Sunday River to the sea in Belfast. As the largest fundraising event of its kind in the nation for the American Lung Association, the Trek has raised more than $22 million in the past 30 years.  Kudos Bruce!!

A well-deserved vacation

Father Nathan will accompany Erin, who was selected to participate in the Telluride Plein Air Festival in Colorado.  They depart on June 25 and Nathan will return to the office on Thursday, July 9.  During this time, Deacon Christine will handle all pastoral matters, and we are pleased to have Fr. David Illingworth back to Saint Mary’s to celebrate and preach on Sunday, June 28, and the Reverend Elizabeth Miller with us on July 5.

Coffee Hour Hosts  are needed!

We need volunteers for the 9:30am service Coffee Hour.  Please keep in mind that Coffee Hour is meant to be a quick parish gathering, with coffee and juice available, along with a couple of store-bought or home-baked treats. Most Sundays, coffee is already made (thanks to Hugh & Mary Smith!), so it just entails a simple set-up and clean-up.  The importance of Coffee Hour is the gift of hospitality to one another and to our guests and visitors. We need your involvement. Coffee Hour can’t happen every Sunday, unless we have more volunteers. Please sign-up on the table outside of the Guild Room.

Senior Recognition: June 14, 2015

Next Sunday we will be honoring our High School graduates.  Let’s be sure to congratulate them and make sure they know our support and prayers go with them always and everywhere.

Baptism in the Bay: June 14 at 5 PM

Have you never been baptized? Do you know someone who has not been baptized but who wants to follow the way of Jesus? Do you want to renew your baptism and claim your place within the kingdom of God? Make plans now to join our community for a special gathering in Casco Bay at Falmouth Town Landing on Sunday afternoon, June 14. We will bless the waters of the Bay and then use them for baptism and for blessing ourselves!

We can’t promise warm bay water or perfect summer weather, but we CAN promise the presence of the Holy Spirit. Everyone is welcome to join the celebration as 6 people are baptized for the very first time!
