Angelus Concert at Saint Mary’s: Saturday, June 11 at 7
Angelus, a group of seven young women from Mt. Vernon Senior High School Fine Arts Academy (in Mt. Vernon, Indiana), will be singing their final concert of their east coast tour here at Saint Mary’s on Saturday. The superb acoustics of St. Mary’s will be an ideal venue for their program, which includes medieval chant, contemporary Irish works, songs in the American Sacred Harp tradition, and a wide range of other styles. Completely unique among American high school ensembles, Angelus is dedicated to the performance of sacred music of varied religious traditions and historical periods. The ensemble has performed over seventy concerts in thirteen states and their recordings have been featured on “Celtic Connections” on National Public Radio, Minnesota Public Radio, and in Europe on the Dutch program, “Songs from Ireland.” Most recently, the ensemble made their NYC debut at Lincoln Center on Sunday, April 3.
The concert is free and open to the public. A free will offering will be received, and the ensembles CDs will be available for purchase. FMI: Bruce Fithian (bsfithian@aol.com).
Mass on the Grass: Wednesdays at 6:30PM from June 29 to August 3
Away on Sundays in the summer? Gather with us on Wednesdays for an informal, outdoors Eucharist that is participatory, brief and suitable for all ages.
Bring a POTLUCK DISH to share afterward, and we’ll have lawn games (boccé, croquet, frisbee, badminton) ready for all. In case of rain, we’ll move into the Parish House.
Serving The World
Souper Supper: 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month – June 24
Our free suppers in our Parish House Auditorium open to anyone and everyone. Please consider dropping in sometime between 5 – 7 PM on either evening for dinner served in a family-style setting and consisting of a hearty soup, salad, bread, homemade desserts and beverages. St. Elizabeth’s Jubilee Center service: 9 – 11 AM on Tuesday, June 28
Come out to serve those in need in Portland at Saint Elizabeth’s. A group from Saint Mary’s will be there on Tuesday morning to distribute clothing and other important items. Enter from the parking lot behind St. Luke’s Cathedral on Park Street.
Youth Ministry
Guiding RAY (Religious Adventures for Youth):
After this Sunday, our Guiding RAY program will take a break for the summer months and resume on September 11. For more information on our Guiding RAY or Godly Play programs, please visit our website www.smary.org
The Nursery will remain open for our youngest disciples in the Kneeler Room (near the Auditorium) beginning at 9:15 AM every Sunday morning.
Young Life: POOL OLYMPICS & YEAR-END BBQ, June 13, 7:31PM

Camp Bishopswood: our diocesan camp in Hope, Maine
There are many different ways for you to experience Bishopswood this summer:
· Mini-Camp, June 26–28, 30-Jul 7, Aug 7-9: For children ages 6 – 8, this is an brief introduction to overnight camp. High staff to camper ratio and LOTS of fun!
· Summer Camp Weeks, June 26 – August 13: For ages 8 – 16. One week or more.
· BION Camp, August 16 – 20: Only for those completing grades 6 – 12, with crafts, game nights, ultimate Frisbee, cabin challenges and more!

Portland Bach Festival: June 19 – 24
Pairing the best of Bach with the best of Portland! Featuring renowned Maine, National and International artists. Venues include Saint Mary’s, the Cathedral of Saint Luke, Ocean Gateway Terminal, and East End Community Center. Zenith Journey to Katahdin: August 4 - 6
Every Mainer needs to visit Chimney Pond in Baxter State Park and to reach the summit of Katahdin (the zenith of Maine), if they are able. Join Fr. Nathan and a group of 12 for a summer-time adventure in amazing Baxter State Park. Two nights in lean-to’s, one of which will be at the famous Chimney Pond campground. To be held on our lawns, weather permitting. Beginning at 4:30 pm, rain or shine, join fellow parishioners, family and friends for fun, fellowship and feasting. Lobster/Steamer dinner, BBQ Chicken dinner, and grilled burgers and hotdogs. The Auction Committee has received live and silent auction items thus far including Red Sox tickets. Kindly consider donating an auction item to this event. Can you offer a service or an experience? SPARKLES NEWS: The Sparkles Fair is December 3, 2016
We start the festivities this year with the lighting of the Memorial Tree at the Thanksgiving Eucharist on November 23rd, but your Sparkles committee is already at work. Knitters can begin knitting for the knitting corner. Please call Barbara Murray for more information. (799-1326)
If you are cleaning closets, downsizing or closing an estate, you can consider donating items to the Boutique. We take unique items, holiday decorations, family treasures and gently used household items but no books or rummage.
Drop off dates for items are not until the Fall but if you need help with storage, please call Onnie Hastings (878-6683) or Jan Mordarski (899-4099) and we will make arrangements. Please do not drop off items at the Parish Hall without first calling one of them. Thanks!

Wisdom Seekers: Tuesdays at 10:30 AM
Everyone is invited to gather and join the discussion on Tuesdays. Drop-ins are welcome. The group is led by Deacon Christine and meets in the Guild Room.
Noonday Prayer every weekday in the Chapel
Prayer is central to our community. This takes 10 minutes and all are welcome. You are also invited, wherever you may be, to STOP and PRAY at 12 noon for those in need, for our parish family, for our bishop, and for your own life with God. On Thursdays, we include prayers for healing and the Eucharist.
