Project Scarf Distribution –
The parish and friends are invited to join our youth in distributing dozens of handmade scarves to those who need them to stay warm in the downtown Portland area. Meet in the church parking lot at 10am on Saturday, February 28.

THIS is our special program for Lent! Our goal is for everyone to make a special Lenten commitment for 5 weeks to participate in a small group study. This is a proven path to grow spiritually and to strengthen our community here at Saint Mary’s.

Book, Bake and Soup Sale in support of Outreach: March 21
As part of our 2015 Outreach Project, S. Mary's is holding its Book, Bake & Soup Sale on Sat., March 21st , from 9 AM to 1 PM. WE NEED YOU to: donate books, videos, games & puzzles; sort books; sell books; BAKE for the bake sale; clean-up. Please sign up to help in whatever way you are able and willing. There are sign-up sheets outside the Guild Room. Regarding books, games or puzzles: Please leave all donations downstairs on the HUGE table in the big storage room. Please, NO used textbooks, encyclopedia sets, or magazine sets.

St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry
In addition to the everyday essentials that are not purchasable with Food Stamps, there is a tremendous need for winter clothes at St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry. It would be greatly appreciated if your donations are clean, folded and placed in bags small enough to carry easily when transporting the items to the pantry. Thank you very much for your contributions. Also, please note that the next date for Saint Mary’s to volunteer at the pantry is March 24th from 9:00 to 11:00. If you would like more information or need a ride, please contact Judith Brooks at 781-2097.

Christian Formation Notes
Guiding RAY (Religious Adventures for Youth)
At 9:30 AM, Family Chapel is a brief time for families and children in the Fr. James Chapel. Guiding RAY classes begin immediately afterward at 9:45 AM.
The Nursery is open for our youngest disciples in the Kneeler Room (near the Auditorium) beginning at 9:45 AM every Sunday morning.
The Middlers (Middle Schoolers) meet at 9:30 AM over in the Living Room of the Rectory. They are led by Jeff and Diane Campbell and they all have a great time together!
Youth Ministry
Acolyte Bowling & Pizza – THIS Sunday afternoon, March 1 at 5pm
All acolytes and families are invited for a fun time at Colonial Bowling in Westbrook. Fr. Nathan will join us there a bit later on.
Middle School Winter Event: March 6 – 8
Friday night to Sunday afternoon at St. Paul’s Church in Brunswick. All of those in 6 – 8th grade are invited to meet new friends from across the state, have fun, and learn more about God. Go now to www.maineyouth.net to register. Don’t miss it!
High School Service Group: March 13, 22, 27
This group serves as a vehicle for service, fellowship and spirituality for all high schoolers. We will focus on two of S. Mary's established outreach programs: Preble Street Soup Kitchen (on the 4th Sunday of every month) and Souper Supper (on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of every month.) Young Life Club: every MONDAY night at 7:31PM !
Every Monday night at 2 Town Landing Rd (the Herdrich family house), all high schoolers are invited to come and bring a friend. You can park in the town lot across from the Town Landing Market. This is CRAZY fun every time!
Meetings, Gatherings and Events
“Be Still”: 7 – 8 PM on Monday evening in the Chapel
Saint Mary's serves to offer multiple ways for all to seek, hear, experience God.
One such way is to stop and give ourselves an opportunity to listen. Beginning March 2, parishioners are warmly invited to gather in the Father James' Chapel on the first Monday each month between 7pm and 8pm for silent reflection, contemplation or meditation. There will be no presentation or service. Come for five minutes or come for an hour.
Free Concert in Yarmouth: Tuesday, March 3 at 7:30 PM
Join the Grove City College Touring Choir of 44 select singers at The First Baptist Church of Yarmouth for a free concert of sacred choral music.
Traditional Hymn Sing: March 22, 3 – 4 PM
Join an ecumenical group at Falmouth Congregational church for an all community Hymn Sing led by Pastor Michael Richards. Old favorites, new ones and requests are encouraged. Refreshments will follow. FMI: call 781-3413
Good Friday Blood Drive: April 3, 12 noon – 5 pm
SIGN-UP NOW for a special opportunity to share the gift of life with others as we remember the new life that Christ has given to us in the Paschal mystery. Here in our Parish House Auditorium. Get Stitching: every Tuesday at 1 PM
We are gathering at the church EVERY TUESDAY AT 1:00pm to stitch. Some are knitting prayer scarves, some making dryer balls, some quilting, some making mitten, or socks, or vests. We help each other and chat about whatever we want. There is laughter as well as concern for our world. Everyone is welcome to an hour (and a half) of productive fellowship.
Noonday Prayer every weekday in the Chapel
VERY IMPORTANT! Prayer is central to our community. This takes 10 minutes and all are welcome. You are also invited, wherever you may be, to STOP and PRAY at 12 noon for those in need, for our parish family, for our bishop, and for your own life with God. On Thursdays, we include prayers for healing and the Eucharist.
Lenten Concert by St. Mary Schola: March 25, 27, 29
Schola’s spring Lenten concert will include Bach’s Cantata 159, music by Carissimi as well as motets from the Renaissance, Baroque and modern eras. The March 24 concert is in Brunswick, the March 27 concert is at the Cathedral of Saint Luke, and the March 29 concert will be here at 4 PM. FMI and to buy tickets, go to www.stmaryschola.org .
