Saint Mary’s Weekly News
August 30, 2015 – The Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost
SEPTEMBER 13: Welcome Home Sunday BBQ Picnic
Plans are being made now to kick off our new Program Year with energy! The Choir returns, Guiding RAY classes meet, and many hibernating committees, guilds and ministries kick into gear. Of course, we will have the ever-popular Bounce House and cotton candy machine in action! Hospitality will be cooking and there will be plenty of ways for you to help out. Keep watch for what you can bring to the festivities!
The ANGELUS and our Patronal Feast of Saint Mary
In August, we celebrate our parish’s Patronal Feast as we remember the faithful life and blessed death of Mary, the mother of our Lord. Every week, we gather in her name and under her patronage, because we desire to lead a faithful life and to meet a blessed death in the same way as she did. This August, we will pray the ancient Angelus prayer in place of the Creed as a way to meditate upon her life and to ask for her assistance.
Let us Sing to the Lord
Please consider joining the choir! We are a merry band who love praising God through music and enjoy a weekly dose of warm fellowship. During the program year, we meet on Thursdays at 7PM in the Choir Room on the lower level of the Parish House. We are looking forward to our weekly anthems and service music as well as a special All Saints Evensong on Sunday, November 1, when we will sing a great masterpiece, Fauré's Requiem. Please do not hesitate to contact Bruce after worship or by phone or email (831-7113, bsfithian@aol.com) or any choir member as we would love to have new friends and voices to join us!

Upcoming Events & Gatherings
Saint Mary’s GODSPEED Teams in the Maine Marathon: October 4
We will have Relay teams running in the Marathon, and now we need Saint Marians to come and be a positive, supportive presence “outside the Lychgate” as thousands run by. Bruce will play the organ with outside amplification, but we need more creative ideas to show our support of this good community effort. If you have ideas or want to help, please contact Janet Bowne at 318-7045 or janetbowne@maine.rr.com.
SPARKLES NEWS

Drop off dates for your gently used household items and treasures (no rummage or books) will begin October 10. Start collecting goodies to donate now!!
Get Stitching: every Tuesday at 1 PM
We are gathering at the church EVERY TUESDAY AT 1:00pm to stitch. Some are knitting prayer scarves, some making dryer balls, some quilting, some making mitten, or socks, or vests. We help each other and chat about whatever we want. There is laughter as well as concern for our world. Everyone is welcome to an hour (and a half) of productive fellowship.
