Stewardship 2018: God’s Work, Our Hands!
We’ve kicked off our 2018 Stewardship Campaign. Watch your mail for your pledge packets. If you’re a regular pledger, thank you! If you’re not a regular pledger, please consider a pledge. Committing to a regular pledge (no matter the size) helps the Vestry plan for our expenses. In 2017, pledges at Saint Mary’s range from $2 to $200 per week. Together our contributions support our mission and ministries. Our contributions also allow us to maintain our buildings, hire and retain staff to serve the community within and outside of Saint Mary’s. Our pledges also pay for utilities, insurance and other budget necessities. Return your pledge form to the Parish Office by email, by regular mail, in person or in the collection plate on Sunday (be sure to secret it in an envelope) by December 31st! You can opt to give annually, quarterly, monthly, weekly or via transfer on line. ALL pledges are valued, celebrated and held confidentially. THANK YOU.

Reformation Jubilee 500: THIS Sunday afternoon, October 29, 5 PM
Churches around the world are gearing up to mark the 500 year anniversary of the start of the Protestant Reformation. On October 31, 1517, a German monk called Martin Luther nailed 95 theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg. This precipitated the reform of the medieval Church, which changed the world forever. We are all impacted by Luther, who has been called “the last medieval man and the first modern one.”
Together, we will recognize this momentous occasion with a special ecumenical service at Saint Mary’s on October 29 with Emmaus Lutheran Church, Holy Martyrs parish and the other Falmouth churches. There will be special music, hymns and anthems based on Martin Luther’s writings with a brass quartet too. Join us for this very special commemoration. Join us
Sparkles NEWS: Special Coffee Hour on Nov. 5
YOU ARE INVITED to a special SPARKLES Coffee Hour next week after both services. There will be tastings and other goodies to eat, and sign-up sheets for volunteer opportunities. We need LOTS of help – from baking to decorating to setting up and cashiering. Many hands make light work, so PLEASE give generously of your time and talents.
During Coffee Hour, we will also begin pre-orders for lobster stew, Schola tickets, boxwood trees, greens and poinsettias and Rick Hirschman’s wonderful Coffee Cake. Pre-orders will be taken for 2 weeks, and must be pre-paid, so please have your checkbook or cash with you.
Drop-off schedule: The next drop-off dates are Saturday from 9am to 12noon on October 28 and November 4. We NEED Christmas wrapping paper and ribbons and holiday decorations and some fine china, and toys and children items.

Grab your Gloves & Rakes: Annual Fall Clean-Up, Saturday, Nov. 18
Let’s gather together on November 12 from 8 AM to 12 noon. Please circle that date on your calendar and join the fun. We will be working outside to spruce up our campus for the winter season as well as putting up garland for upcoming seasons. Food and drink will be provided.

Join us during the coffee hour between services in the Saint Mary’s Auditorium where Anne will explain what detox is, who uses their services, what the staff has noticed with regard to changes in the client population, and how the detox fits within the system of care.
Bob Fowler, the Executive Director of Milestone Recovery, will also be in attendance to answer questions that come up regarding Milestone generally.
Souper Suppers: A Chance to Serve - every 2nd & 4th Fridays, 5-7pm
As you begin to ponder your autumn schedule, please consider joining the Souper Supper team! One of Saint Mary's most popular ministries, we serve home-made soup, salads, rolls, desserts at table, FREE to the community on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month. Do you have a couple of hours every month or two? Help set up, dish up, clean-up or make/provide desserts. Your Choice!! A fun, fulfilling, very family-friendly ministry! Falmouth Food Pantry
Serving the needs of citizens in Falmouth and surrounding communities for over 25 years. Food and supplies may be dropped off at Saint Mary’s on Sundays or in the Parish House anytime during the week. FFP is always in need of hot and cold cereals; canned meats and fish; canned soups (especially healthy and low sodium; canned fruit (especially light or in juice.) Thank you for your generosity and compassion! Thank you to all who helped, cooked and attended the Harvest Community Dinner: it was a lot of fun and very successful!
Town to host Volunteer Fair, November 12
Make Your Mark! The Town of Falmouth will host a town-wide Volunteer Fair on Sunday, November 12 from 1:00 to 3:00pm at the Mason-Motz Activity Center, 190 Middle Road. Representatives from area non-profit, service, and booster organizations will be available to showcase their organizations and highlight their volunteer needs for those interested in getting involved. Youth Ministry
Guiding RAY (Religious Adventures for Youth)
Our Guiding RAY programs for all young people ages 1 to 14 have begun with exciting plans for the program year! We gather all together beginning at 9:45am with classes beginning at 10am. For more information on Guiding RAY, please visit our website www.smary.org . The Nursery opens at 9:45am for our youngest disciples in the Guiding RAY area every Sunday morning for the later Eucharist.

This week in Guiding RAY Heather Gale and Janet Bowne will be teaching the kids about the life of Martin Luther as we commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation
Meg Hurdman and the older Guiding RAY kids are continuing to study the story of Paul's journey as a missionary and his faith and confidence in God. Their plans to build a tent are coming along as they also build relationships with each other. The final stages of the tent construction will take place on Sunday, November 12 from 4-6 p.m. during Messy Church. Be sure to visit their tent and enjoy an agape meal and hear a verse or two from some of the Pauline Epistles.

It’s a Hit! Angel Choir: Calling all young singers on Sundays at 9:30AM
In support of the RSCM program, we are thrilled to announce that Priscilla Rigg, has volunteered to lead our young children Pre-school to 4th grade, in a new children’s choir. The young singers will gather at 9:30 AM in the Father James Chapel for joyous singing (and some instruction too!) through the use of puppets and hands-on percussion instruments.

Wisdom Seekers: studying the Letter to the Romans
This Bible study group meets on Tuesdays at 10:30 AM in the Guild Room. Everyone is welcome to come and explore each passage from Romans in depth.
Chapel Eucharist: every Thursday in the Chapel at 12 noon
This is an informal time (in a beautiful space!) to gather at the Lord’s Table with a meditation on the scripture or the saint of the day and prayers for healing.
Noonday Prayer: every other weekday in the Chapel Pause for 10 minutes of prayer together. You are also invited, wherever you may be, to STOP and PRAY with us in the Spirit at 12 noon for those in need, for our parish family, our bishop, and our own daily life with God.
