Saint Mary’s Weekly News

1 July 2017 – Our Celebration of Independence Day

WELCOME to Hannah Grace Duchin!

We will welcome Hannah, the newest member of the Duchin family, into the mystical Body of Christ together with all the saints of God of every generation. Congratulations to her parents (Kyla and David) and her older sister, Hope!

Our Celebration of Independence Day: Sunday, July 1

We will celebrate the Fourth of July early here at Saint Mary’s, with patriotic songs and prayers for the nation. Wear your red, white and blue and come prepared to pray for God’s blessings to guide us in the way of freedom.

Thank you, Harold Stover for filling in for Bruce on the organ while he takes some much-deserved time off.  It’s good to have you in the choir loft!

Thank you for keeping your pledges current!

For all you summer vacationers, please remember that if you will be out of town for a few weeks (or the entire summer), it is important to maintain your regular pledge to Saint Mary’s. The parish is still active in the summer and continues to incur operating expenses, so it is important that we maintain cash flow.  The easiest thing to do is to set-up automated bank transfers in advance so that you do not have to remember while away. This can be done through our website (www.smary.org) or through your own bank. That will give you one less thing that you’ll have to remember.  Thank You!

Please PRAY for General Convention! (Austin, TX, July 5-13)

For the seventy-ninth time since our independence from the United Kingdom, the Church gathers in General Convention to worship, to pray, to make plans for mission, and to oversee the governance of the Church. Please pray during the days of Convention for God’s will to be done on earth as in heaven.

Sparkles News!

The Sparkles Committee has a special request -- for plants.  Last year, a new and very successful addition/return to Sparkles was our plant table.  We planted cuttings in the summer, and potted them in teacups and other small planters to sell at Sparkles.  This year, we are adding English Ivy topiary wreaths to our plant table.  If you have any small plants, and/or cuttings, we would love to have them!  As an alternative, small plants are often relatively inexpensive this time of year.  If you’re not a gardener, we have committee members who will care for the plants until December.  Just let Jana Burke (jana.burke@gmail.com) or Kathy Galen (kathleendaisy@aol.com) know, and we’ll be glad to arrange it.
