Serving our World

Mission Morning Survey

“Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.”  Matthew 25:40

Here at Saint Mary’s, we strive to make reaching out to others a part of our shared life together.  One of the many ways we serve our community and our world is through our Mission Mornings.  Three Sundays a year, we put these words into action by gathering intentionally, as Christ-centered Saint Marians, to go out into the community to help, to comfort, to clean, to care, to plant, to share, to meet needs. Those activities have included picking up litter, making & distributing scarves for the homeless, helping specific parishioners with home projects, doing indoor and outdoor projects at Milestone (a local recovery center), and bringing plants and cheer to nursing home residents.

Now is the time to reflect on that experience and share your thoughts about Mission Morning.  Please help us to enhance the experience for all by completing the Mission Morning  survey here.  Or go to

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QT8NBGZ    Or fill out a hardcopy found at the back of the church or in the Parish house., and return to the office or in the offering plate.

Farm to Table Dinner and Auction!

Thank you to the dozens of people who helped make the Farm to Table event such a wonderful evening. The list is too long to print here so watch the September AVE for a more comprehensive recap! We do need to thank a few who served in leadership capacity. Our chefs: Barbara Bell (and her two sous chefs: Michael and Grace) and Rick Hirschman. Our Auction Team: Betsy Stoddard (for those who don’t know, Betsy “retired” from many years of running our event but jumped in to help in so many invaluable ways), Jim and Melissa Kane and Beth Shaw. So many people donated items and bought items, donated veggies and came to prep/cook/grill/set up outside/reset up inside when the rain started/serve/clean/run check in and check out and any of the many other tasks to make the event so fun and successful. We also would love your feedback! Please send your thoughts, suggestions and opinions about the event to Beth (admin@smary.org) or Janet Bowne (janetbowne@maine.rr.com) as soon as you can!! Oh, and save the date 8/10/19 for next summer’s culinary and auction event!
