Saint Mary's Weekly News 

Candlemas Service of Sacred Songs & Readings:  February 2 at 7pm    Please join us in the church or on Facebook for a Candlemas service of poetry, sacred music, and silence on Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock.  2/2/22 

FFormation on Sundays:  9:30am       

Youth Formation - Guiding RAY in the lower level begins at 10am  

Be Still on Zoom:  Contemplative readings with reflection 

Lectionary with Rev Jane in the Guild Room:  Weekly lectionary discussion 

 Guiding RAY (Religious Adventures for Youth)        

All young people are invited to gather at 9:30 downstairs in the Parish House. Masks are required for all in Guiding RAY, except for those in the Nursery. Class time will begin at 10 AM, and children will be brought over for Communion with their families just before 11 AM.    

  

Souper Bowl of Caring 

Guiding RAY is collecting Canned goods to donate to the Falmouth Food Pantry for those that are struggling to keep food on the table.  They specifically need CANNED soup(low sodium is best) as well as canned diced tomatoes or canned tomato sauce. 

 Help our kids show we all care!  

 

 St Elizabeth's Jubilee Center:   Collecting Winter Boots and coats!   

Saint Mary's is committed to serving at this vital ministry on the third Tuesday of each month from 8:30 to 11 in the morning. St. E's is accepting non-food essentials: bedding, kitchen ware, toiletries, baby diapers and wipes, feminine needs. Souper Supper To-Go: February 11 and 25,  5 – 6 PM  

Every month on the second and fourth Fridays. Delicious homemade soup, bread and a sweet treat is CURBSIDE TO GO and available to everyone, no questions asked. Stop by between 5 to 6 PM to get some for yourself. Try it! 

Red Cross Blood Drives:  March 10 and 26  -   

  The need is Critical! Sign up at www.redcross.org / stmary 

Calling all Books!  Sort through your shelves and donate your 'already read and taking up space' books to our March 19, 2022 Book Sale.  Drop book donations off in the parish house - lower level in the hallway.  No textbooks, encyclopedias, magazines, or inappropriate books please.  All proceeds go to our Mission work.  Thanks in advance! 

Saint Mary's Adopted Angolan Family 

In partnership with the Maine Immigrant Rights Coalition (MIRC), Saint Mary's has adopted an immigrant family who arrived  

in Portland in September from Angola, seeking asylum. They all need basic jeans, shirts, shoes, jackets, boots as well as Food store gift cards, blankets, quarters to do laundry, face masks, and bus passes. See posters in Parish House or eNEWS for size information.

The News at Saint Mary's 


The Sunday morning schedule  

            8:00  Holy Eucharist – followed by Coffee in the Auditorium 

            9:30  Formation  – for youth, adults, and choir 

            10:00  Guiding RAY classes begin

We have a long way to go but we are confident that better days are ahead because God's breath continues to give us life. CDC Guideline updated 

Cumberland County COVID situation continues to be in the Substantial Category, so the State recommends residents to wear a mask while indoors. Saint Mary's is requiring everyone to emulate the compassion of Christ by wearing a mask indoors at all group gatherings. And if you are not feeling well, please stay in the comfort of your home and watch us online. 

Guiding RAY (Religious Adventures for Youth)

Maine Episcopal Youth:  Pray, Play,

Immerse: Beginnings: starting Sunday January 16 at 5pm 

The Immerse Bible study will cover the first five books of the Old Testament known as the Pentateuch.  We will begin on Sunday, January 16, 2022 from 5 - 6 PM on Zoom. The link is here. The program will last for 8 weeks and all are welcome. Books are available at no cost in the parish office. I look forward to participating in this process of reading the    Bible as a novel and discussing our thoughts and questions  together.     

SACRED GROUND - Exciting Hybrid Program Begins January 2022   

In the Sacred Ground program we will discuss the history of various races and how their stories are intertwined with our own, with the intent of becoming more self-aware of racial disparity and how we can  repair the breach. We will meet in small groups for 90 minutes once each month, beginning in January with a break during the summer. Groups will meet at separate times depending on interest and will be facilitated by Jennifer Gregg, Becky Pride, Bonny Rodden and Merle Marie Troeger.

Falmouth Food Pantry  

The Falmouth Food Pantry remains unable to accept food donations from individuals, but boxes of food are being packed at the Pantry and delivered by volunteers to area families. These boxes may include garden fresh vegetables or flowers from your garden; please consider sharing some of your bounty.   

If you know a Falmouth family with an urgent need, please call Nancy Lightbody at the Pantry at 776-0081. If you have any questions about ways in which Saint Mary's supports the Pantry, please feel free to reach out to Vanessa Record at recordvanessa@gmail.com.

Epiphany Sacred Music & Readings:  January 6 at 7pm 

Celebrate Epiphany at Saint Mary's on Thursday, January 6 at 7:00 pm. As we enter into the Epiphany season, we will share beautiful readings and music that reflect upon the themes of this time of year.

Wisdom Seekers Bible Study: Tues. at 10:30 AM:  Wisdom Seekers is a group who gathers to study a current book or the Scriptures appointed for the upcoming Sunday; it is a great way to prepare oneself for Sunday.
