S. Mary's eNEWS for 6.24.12

Saint Mary’s Weekly News

for June 24, 2012 – The Fourth Sunday after Pentecost

Ceremonial Groundbreaking THIS Sunday, June 24th, 9am

Please attend this fun, family-friendly event!

We look forward to welcoming all parishioners, friends and neighbors at this celebratory event--to be held between the services, rain or shine.  Please come, grab a shovel and join together for this signal moment in the life of S. Mary's.

We welcome Canon Vicki Wiederkehr with us this Sunday and thank her for bringing greetings from our Bishop, Steven Lane as part of our Legacy Groundbreaking ceremony.  We are also pleased and thankful that Canon Vicki has been working with our Discernment Committee as their Diocesan consultant in the search for our new rector.

Please Schedule Parish House Use Early!

Throughout much of the construction period, access to the Parish House will be limited to the Guild Room--with some availability of the Auditorium.  If you need those spaces to  meet, please contact Beth Shaw (781-3366) early to reserve!  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Mass on the Grass begins this week

Our Thursday evening, outdoor Eucharist has resumed.  It starts at 6:00pm, and lasts around 30 minutes or so.  We’ll meet on the labyrinth.  Bring your own lawn chair and/or blanket.

Pastor Barb – Access and Schedule

Pastor Barb is now working out of the Rectory.  Her office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Please use the Rectory number 619-7485 during office hours or for emergencies at any time.  Pastor Barb welcomes you to the temporary Rectory office and asks that whenever possible you make appointments with her ahead of time.  Pastoral appointments and other meetings may also take place at the Rectory (or in the guild room, etc.). You are welcome during office hours to knock on the front door; and if Pastor Barb is not in a meeting, on the phone, or otherwise engaged, the coffee and tea pots will be on.  If you are looking for Pastor Barb and she is not at the Rectory, she may be at an off-site meeting.  Beth and Beth in the Office Annex trailer will be able to advise you when she is expected back.  You can also reach Pastor Barb by cell phone at 1-989-295-1300, text messages or E-mail  tpicsm9@gmail.com.

Church Office

The Parish Office and the Volunteer room have been relocated to an office trailer in front of the Rectory.  The office phone number and e-mail remain the same.

S. Mary’s Annual Lobster Bake/BBQ and Silent Auction - August 18th

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to offer an item, gift certificate or service!

Suggestions may be:  a service, a special talent to share, a themed basket, anything you may think would be desirable to others. Pease contact Jim or Betsy Stoddard at 829-2026 or call the parish office at 781-3366.

Now is also the time to put a table of 8+ together.  Call the parish office to reserve your table or just your own lobster before they run out!

Event starts at 4:30pm with BYO appetizers & libations with dinner served at 6pm.

Sparkles Reminder

If you are moving, downsizing or closing an estate, please think about the Sparkles Boutique as a gentle way to part with your treasures.  Distinct and beautiful things are particularly good for the sale.  If storage is a problem (we will not do the collection dates until the Fall) please call Jan Mordarski at 899-04099.

Coffee Hour Hosts NEEDED

Please sign up to host a coffee hour in the Guild Room.  If you enjoy the fellowship following the service, please consider hosting one - either by yourself or with another family.  It’s easy, fun and can be outside on nice Sundays in the summer.  A feast is not needed - just a nibble to enjoy with the coffee that is already made for us.  FMI, contact Betsy Stoddard at 829-2026 or jbstod@myfairpoint.net

This Sunday is Soup Kitchen – June 24th

The Fourth Sunday of each month, S. Mary’s prepares and serves a hot meal to the clients at the Preble Street Soup Kitchen.  We need people to come early (10:30 am) to set up and for kitchen prep; 11:30 am for serving; and 12 noon for clean-up. Bless you. Questions?  Please call Marian McCue at 761-1936 or mmccue@maine.rr.com

Eucharistic Visitors take Holy Communion to those unable to worship with us on Sunday morning.  The Eucharistic Visitor this week is Lanny Wenthe.
