Saint Mary’s Weekly
News
for July 15, 2012 – The Seventh Sunday after
Pentecost
Parish Office Annex Parking
Because
construction vehicles will be entering and exiting S. Mary’s campus, visitors
to the Parish Office Annex (trailer) are asked to please park on Rte. 88 –– not
by the office stairs, in the rectory driveway, or on the sides of the road
leading to S. Mary's parking lot unless you have a heavy burden, are disabled
or the weather is particularly nasty. Your co-operation will be appreciated.
Mass on the Grass
Our Thursday evening, outdoor Eucharist
continues. It starts at 6:00 pm, and lasts around 30 minutes or
so. We meet on the labyrinth. Bring your own lawn chair and/or
blanket.
Discernment (Search) Committee
We continue to make progress on our search for a new rector. Recently we hosted several candidates and have one more to meet in July. We have also started the visiting process seeing the candidates in their home parishes. It's all very exciting and makes for a very busy summer for the members of the DC. Thank you for your continued prayers and support!

Remember to keep your pledges current
For
all you Summer vacationers, please remember to maintain your weekly or monthly
pledge if you will be out of town for a few weeks or the entire summer.
You can do this by either prepaying for the period you will be away from
S. Mary's, or setting up something else with Beth. The parish
is still active in the summer and continues to incur operating
expenses, so it is important that we maintain cash flow. Thanks for your
support of this thriving parish.
Backpacks for Learning Works
The
cloth bag request met with such success I have another favor to ask. If
you have used backpacks you could donate, we could really use them. It
would make it easier for the refugees I work with to carry heavy grocery items
like gallon jugs of milk, canned goods, etc.; as they walk long distances to
get their groceries. Please leave them in the vestibule.
Pastor Barb – Access and Schedule
Pastor
Barb is now working out of the Rectory. Her office hours are 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. Monday through Thursday. Please use the Rectory number 619-7485 during
office hours or for emergencies at any time. Pastor Barb welcomes you to
the temporary Rectory office and asks that whenever possible you make
appointments with her ahead of time. If you are looking for
Pastor Barb and she is not at the Rectory, she may be at an off-site
meeting. Beth and Beth in the Office Annex trailer will be able to advise
you when she is expected back. You can also reach Pastor Barb by cell
phone at 1-989-295-1300, text messages or E-mail tpicsm9@gmail.com.
Legacy
Project Update
CONSTRUCTION
BEGINS! The hard part came first...some beloved trees have come down to
make way for the new administrative wing and chapel. This week, we will consult
with parish and S. Mary's Garden Club experts to successfully relocate the
beautiful rhododendrons in advance of the excavation for that wing. This
week will also see work in the old administrative wing, as we remove mechanical
systems to prepare for demolition. Also some work in the auditorium to
best determine how to remove the stage. We anticipate "Apartment
Wing Demo-Day" will be Monday, July 23rd! We'll be in touch with details
about festivities for this momentous milestone.
Sparkles Reminder
Next
Volume of S. Mary’s Cookbook Series: “Vegetables, Eggs, Side Dishes
and Sandwiches” – the fifth in our series. Recipes can be emailed or
handwritten on the forms provided in the Guild Room. If emailing, please
see the form for directions so we can keep the format consistent. All
recipes need to be received by early-mid October in order to have books printed
and ready for Sparkles in early December. Please make this a delicious
addition to our previous four books. All are available by request or at
Sparkles for $10 each. With question regarding our Sparkles Fair, please call
Jan Mordarski at 899-4099.
Help! Coffee Hour Hosts Needed
Please
consider hosting a coffee hour in the Guild Room following the service (either
by yourself or with another family). It’s easy, fun and can be outside on
nice summer Sundays. A feast is not needed – just a tidbit to enjoy with
the coffee that is already made. FMI, contact Betsy Stoddard at
829-2026 by e-mail at jbstod@myfairpoint.net .
S. Mary’s Annual Lobster Bake/BBQ and Silent Auction - August 18th

Now
is also the time to put a table of 8+ together. Call the parish office to
reserve your table or just your own lobster before they run out!
Event
starts at 4:30pm with BYO appetizers & libations with dinner served at 6pm.
Eucharistic Visitors take Holy Communion to those unable to
