S. Mary's eNEWS for 7/8/12

Saint Mary’s Weekly News
for July 8, 2012 – The Sixth Sunday after Pentecost

We welcome Jim Fry to the organ bench again this Sunday and thank him for sharing his gift and talent with us while Bruce has some well-deserved time off.

Mass on the Grass
Our Thursday evening, outdoor Eucharist continues.  It starts at 6:00pm, and lasts around 30 minutes or so.  We’ll meet on the labyrinth.  Bring your own lawn chair and/or blanket.

Remember to keep your pledges current
For all you Summer vacationers, please remember, if you find that you will be out of town for a few weeks or the entire summer, to maintain your weekly or monthly pledge. This can be accomplished either by prepaying for the period you will be away from S. Mary's, or setting up something else with Beth.  The parish is still active in the summer and continues to incur operating expenses, so it is important that we maintain cash flow.  Thanks for your support of this thriving parish.

Pastor Barb – Access and Schedule
Pastor Barb is now working out of the Rectory.  Her office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Please use the Rectory number 619-7485 during office hours or for emergencies at any time.  Pastor Barb welcomes you to the temporary Rectory office and asks that whenever possible you make appointments with her ahead of time.  Pastoral appointments and other meetings may also take place at the Rectory (or in the guild room, etc.). You are welcome during office hours to knock on the front door; and if Pastor Barb is not in a meeting, on the phone, or otherwise engaged, the coffee and tea pots will be on.  If you are looking for Pastor Barb and she is not at the Rectory, she may be at an off-site meeting.  Beth and Beth in the Office Annex trailer will be able to advise you when she is expected back.  You can also reach Pastor Barb by cell phone at 1-989-295-1300, text messages or E-mail  tpicsm9@gmail.com.

Legacy Project
The Town of Falmouth issued the Building Permit on Thursday, 5 July.  Huzzah!!  Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, 9 July.  Grab those hard-hats...

Backpacks for Learning Works
The cloth bag request met with such success I have another favor to ask.  If you have used backpacks you could donate, we could really use them.  It would make it easier for the refugees I work with to carry heavy grocery items like gallon jugs of milk, canned goods, etc.; as they walk long distances to get their groceries.  Please leave them in the vestibule.

Berm Party!
The Churchyard Committee is sponsoring a Berm Party two mornings in July.  The berms are in the Burial Garden  - the section of the Churchyard adjacent to the labyrinth.  We want a Churchyard that is in excellent condition and our berms are crying out for attention.  The party days are Monday, July 9th and Wednesday, July 11th from 8 to 11... weather permitting.  The plan is to weed the berms and put down mulch.  One of the berms will be seeded and returned to grass.  This is not a large area and the work is light gardening.  It will go very quickly with a strong turnout.  It will be fun and feature music and refreshments.  Bring your weeder, gardening gloves and house guests!  If you have an extra hosta, some myrtle or  pachysandra you want to relocate bring them too!

Please schedule Parish House use early!
Throughout much of the construction period, access to the Parish House will be limited to the Guild Room--with some availability of the Auditorium.  If you need those spaces to  meet, please contact Beth Shaw (781-3366) early to reserve!  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

S. Mary’s Annual Lobster Bake/BBQ and Silent Auction - August 18th
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to offer an item, gift certificate or service!
Suggestions may be:  a service, a special talent to share, a themed basket, anything you may think would be desirable to others. Pease contact Jim or Betsy Stoddard at 829-2026 or call the parish office at 781-3366.
Now is also the time to put a table of 8+ together.  Call the parish office to reserve your table or just your own lobster before they run out!
Event starts at 4:30pm with BYO appetizers & libations with dinner served at 6pm.

Church Office
The Parish Office and the Volunteer room have been relocated to an office trailer in front of the Rectory.  The office phone number and e-mail remain the same.

Eucharistic Visitors take Holy Communion to those unable to worship with us on Sunday morning.  Please contact Deacon Christine if you are aware of someone who would like a visit. The Eucharistic Visitor this week is Paul Engel.
