"Be Still" in Lent! Every Monday evening between 7 and 8 PM
What is more special than taking a few moments to quietly listen for...and to....God? No chatter, no internet, no interruptions. Just blessed (really!) quiet in the beautiful Father James Chapel. Spend 5 minutes or an hour – the time is yours. Resources are available.
Workers are needed for Holy Week and the Paschal Feast!
Inserted into this bulletin is a sheet where you can volunteer to participate in the great liturgies of Holy Week and Easter. Please look it over, fill it out as you feel led, and return it in the offering plate or to the Parish Office in the next couple of days. Thank you!
Repairs underway downstairs in the Parish House!
We are pleased to report that work continues in the Guiding RAY spaces to remove the existing flooring and prepare the concrete/replace the flooring following instructions from expert Peter Craig who determined the cause of the tile bubbling/air quality issues through extensive testing over the last few months (please refer to the AVE for details.) The original subcontractor, Paul White Interior Solutions, is doing the work under the supervision of Ledgewood Construction, Scott Simons Architects and concrete expert Peter Craig. And, we are VERY fortunate to welcome back former parishioner, Dick Miller, who has volunteered his services as "Clerk of the Works" for this project. Thank you, Dick and Beth Miller

Preble Street Soup Kitchen: This SUNDAY, March 22
The Fourth Sunday of each month Saint Mary's prepares and serves a hot meal to the clients at the Preble Street Soup Kitchen. Preble Street serves many of the homeless in Portland, as well as others who cannot afford to buy food. We often serve up to 300 clients at a setting.
We have a dedicated band of volunteers who find this work very rewarding. We are always looking for more people to help. We need people to (a) arrive at 10:30 am to help with the cooking and set-up; (b) to arrive about 11:45 to assist with table service; and/or (c) to help with clean-up from 12:45 to 2 pm. If you would like to join us, please contact Carla Birt at carlabirt@gmail.com , or Marian McCue at mmccue@maine.rr.com .
St. Elizabeth’s Essential Pantry: Tuesday, March 24, 9 – 11 AM
All are welcome to serve the needy in Portland at Saint Elizabeth’s (a ministry of the Cathedral of St. Luke). A group from Saint Mary’s will be there next Tuesday morning. Enter from the parking lot behind St. Luke’s Cathedral on Park Street.
Join the Souper Supper Team! - March 27
We offer free community suppers on the second and fourth Friday of each month in the auditorium of Saint Mary’s Parish House. The dinners, which are available to anyone at no charge, are served in a family-style setting and consist of a hearty soup or entree, salad or vegetable, bread, homemade desserts and beverages. We’d love to have you join us for a wonderful fellowship dinner or to help out in setup serving or clean-up. FMI, contact Jennifer Gregg at jenniferanngregg@gmail.com .

This group serves as a vehicle for service, fellowship and spirituality for all high schoolers. We focus on two of Saint Mary's established outreach programs: Preble Street Soup Kitchen (on the 4th Sunday of every month) and Souper Supper (on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of every month.) Please see the Sign-Up Table outside the Guild Room. Or contact Anne LaFond (alafond@maine.rr.com or 781-8820) with your dates/times or any questions you might have.
Young Life Club: every MONDAY night at 7:31PM !
Every Monday night at 2 Town Landing Rd (the Herdrich family house), all high schoolers are invited to come and bring a friend. You can park in the town lot across from the Town Landing Market. This is CRAZY fun every week!
Meetings, Gatherings and Events
Get Stitching: every Tuesday at 1 PM
We are gathering at the church EVERY TUESDAY AT 1:00pm to stitch. Some are knitting prayer scarves, some making dryer balls, some quilting, some making mitten, or socks, or vests. We help each other and chat about whatever we want. There is laughter as well as concern for our world. Everyone is welcome to an hour (and a half) of productive fellowship.
Noonday Prayer every weekday in the Chapel
VERY IMPORTANT! Prayer is central to our community life. This takes 10 minutes and all are welcome. You are also invited, wherever you may be, to STOP and PRAY at 12 noon for those in need, for our parish family, for our bishop, and for your own life with God. On Thursdays, we include prayers for healing and the celebration of the Eucharist.

Celebrate the Life of Alden Parker
We are saddened to announce the death of Kim Diamond’s father, Alden Parker. Alden and Gloria were baptized at Saint Mary’s in 2004 as adults, so S. Mary’s has always had a special place in their hearts.
The Holy Eucharist in celebration of Alden’s life will be held at Saint Mary’s on Saturday, March 28 at 12noon followed by a memorial reception in the parish House. If you are able to help by providing sweets or savories for the reception please contact Ruth, Norma Jean or Elizabeth at memorialreception@smary.org
