July 26, 2015 – The Ninth Sunday after Pentecost


Koinonia: summertime prayer and fellowship – in July and August

Every other Wednesday evening in July and August, beginning at 6:30 pm, we will gather together for an informal, outdoor time of prayer, sharing, learning, food and fellowship.   THIS WEDNESDAY!!

·        July 29: Intro to African Drumming and Song – led by our own Oscar Mokeme, bring fruit or desserts to share afterward

·        August 12: Ice Cream and a Movie – bring your favorite ice cream to share and watch a family movie with Maine connections (The Iron Giant)

·        August 26: Intro to the Ukulele with “The Flukes” – led by the Falmouth Library Ukulele group, with a chance to play a uke yourself and eat some good dessert

Christian Formation Notes

Guiding RAY  (Religious Adventures for Youth):   

Guiding RAY program will take a break for the summer months and resume on September 13.  For more information on our Guiding RAY or Godly Play programs, please visit our website  www.smary.org

The Nursery will remain open for our youngest disciples in the Kneeler Room (near the Auditorium) beginning at 9:15 AM every Sunday morning.

 

Vacation Bible School at St. Bart's Episcopal Church, Yarmouth

On the Move with God:    August 10 - 14, 2015 9am-12pm 

Tents! Stories! Crafts! Games! Songs! Join us as we take a closer look at biblical journeys and the presence of God along the way. Monday, August 10 through Friday, August 14th from 9am to 12pm for ages 4-12. Snacks provided. $30 suggested donation per child to cover the costs of food and craft and game supplies. For all of our middle-schoolers and high-schoolers out there!

·         BION Camp, August 18 – 22: For those who have completed grades 6 – 12, with coffee houses and game nights, ultimate Frisbee, cabin challenges and more!

Serving The World

St. Elizabeth’s JUBILEE CENTER: Tuesday, July 28 from 8:30 – 11 AM

This crucial ministry of the Cathedral Church of Saint Luke to immigrants and the needy in Portland has recently been recognized as a national Episcopal “Jubilee Center”!

We (Saint Marians) staff this Center every six weeks. All are welcome to come and serve those in need. Carpooling from Falmouth is possible upon request. At St. Luke’s, enter from the Cathedral’s rear parking lot on Park Street.

 

Souper Suppers at Saint Mary’s: Every 2nd and 4th Friday   (July 24)

This is a FREE Friday night dinner for everyone and anyone. Join us for supper for a relaxed evening of fellowship and outreach to the community and each other. 

 

And join the Souper Supper Team!

These dinners, which are available to the public at no charge, are served in a family-style setting and consist of a hearty soup or entree, salad or vegetable, bread, homemade desserts and beverages.  Helpers are always needed! Falmouth Food Pantry

Serving the needs of citizens in Falmouth and surrounding communities for over 25 years.    Food and supplies may be brought to worship on Sundays or to the Parish House during the week.  FFP is always in need of hot and cold cereals, canned meats and fish, canned soups (especially healthy and low sodium), and canned fruit (especially light or in juice.) Thank you for your compassion and generosity!

Haiti Mission Trip in February 2016: INTERESTED?

Want to see and support the work of the Christian school Institution Univers in person? There will be a brief meeting of all those potentially interested in the Haiti trip between the liturgies on Sunday, September 13 at 9:15 AM in the Auditorium. Kelly Ianno and Becky Pride will be there to answer any questions you may have.  Folks will need to decide if they plan to go on the trip by November 1. Saint Mary’s 11th Annual Lobster Bake & Auction. Beginning at 4:30, rain or shine, join fellow parishioners, friends and neighbors for fun, fellowship and feasting on lobsters or BBQ.  To reserve your meal, contact Beth in the office 781-3366, admin@smary.org or Betsy & Jim Stoddard, 829-2026, jbstod@myfairpoint.net.  The Auction Committee is asking for your help. We are looking for Live and Silent Auction items: services, experiences, event tickets and gift certificates.  Kindly give this some consideration and remember that no offering is too small. Saint Mary’s GODSPEED Teams in the Maine Marathon: October 4

Who is going to run with Nathan+ and other Saint Marians? Calling all runners – of ALL abilities! Since we cannot gather for worship on Sunday morning of the Maine Marathon (October 4), everyone is invited to gather to run as part of our Saint Mary’s relay teams. Distances vary from 5 miles to 9 miles. Start your training now! Want to join one of the teams? Talk with Nathan+ know or email him at nathanferrell@smary.org .

 

SPARKLES NEWS: Saturday, December 5 

Artisans and Crafters: at the Sparkle Boutique we offer a limited number of tables (3 total) that feature professionally done work by Saint Marian's.  The artist takes 50% of the profits from their table and takes home any unsold items.  If you want to "Sparkle" and have a table, please call Jan Mordarski (899-4099) or Onnie Hastings (878-6683) for more information.  No knitting or jewelry since we sell those items in the boutique.

**Drop off dates for your gently used household items and treasures (no rummage or books) will begin October 10, so start collecting goodies to donate now!!

 

Get Stitching: every Tuesday at 1 PM

We are gathering at the church every Tuesday at 1:00pm to stitch.  Some are knitting prayer scarves, some making dryer balls, some quilting, some making mitten, or socks, or vests.  We help each other and chat about whatever we want.  There is laughter as well as concern for our world.  Everyone is welcome to an hour (and a half) of productive fellowship.
