Saint Mary's eNEWS for 7.10.16

Saint Mary’s Weekly News

July 10, 2016 – Eighth Sunday after Pentecost

Deacon Christine’s Retirement Celebration: Sunday, July 31

In consultation with Bishop Steve, Deacon Christine has announced her intention to retire from active ministry at the end of July. On July 31, she will preach and speak to us one last time at both liturgies. And after the 9:30 Eucharist, we will express our thanks to her with a celebration in the Auditorium.  If you can contribute with food or with a gift for this day, please contact Janet Bowne at 318-7045 or janetbowne@maine.rr.com.

Thanks to Sylvia Infantine for playing the organ Sunday while Bruce is in Alaska on vacation.  We appreciate her time and the sharing of her musical gifts with us.

Saint Mary’s Photo Directory

Thanks to all who had your portraits taken for our next directory!

Those that couldn’t make the appointment, there’s still time to get a digital photo of you and your family in to the office so you, too, can be included in this keepsake!  Or bring a copy of a recent photo into the office and it can be scanned!

We want this to be a great representation of our church family and life, so if you have candid shots of church events or happenings or pictures of your guilds or committees in action please send them to Beth at admin@smary.org

Mass on the Grass: Wednesdays at 6:30PM from June 29 to August 3

Away on Sundays in the summer? Gather with us on Wednesdays for an informal, outdoors Eucharist that is participatory, brief and suitable for all ages.

Bring a POTLUCK DISH to share afterward, and we’ll have lawn games (bocce, croquet, frisbee) ready for all. In case of rain, we’ll move into the Parish House.

We’ll end each MOTG with S’MORES cooked over a campfire! Does it get any better?

Sight-Singing Bootcamp in Saint Mary’s Chapel: beginning Tuesday, July 12

Taught by Oratorio Chorale Artistic Director Emily Isaacson, these 45 minute sessions will teach you to sight-read music. Beginner and advanced classes are available. The fee for all 5 Tuesday evening sessions is only $35. This is a fantastic and affordable opportunity for everyone who wants to improve their Sunday hymn singing! Register now at:

Thank you for keeping your pledges current!

For all you summer vacationers, please remember that if you will be out of town for a few weeks (or the entire summer), it is important to maintain your regular pledge to Saint Mary’s. The parish is still active in the summer and continues to incur operating expenses, so it is important that we maintain cash flow.  The easiest thing to do is to set-up automated bank transfers in advance so that you do not have to remember while away. This can be done through our website (www.smary.org) or through your own bank. That will give you one less thing that you have to remember. Thank you!
