Celebrate Honor Serve in 2017

Please take time to prayerfully consider your 2017 pledge to Saint Mary’s. We’ve been blessed with many wonderful pledges, but we are still a ways from our goal of $285,000. It’s a busy time of year but pledging helps us meet our obligations and plan to grow our ministries. Thank you!

All-Parish Ice Skating: Monday, January 23, 5:30 to 7:30 PM

Mark your calendars now to join your parish family for outdoor ice skating at the Lee Twombly Pond in Falmouth ( behind Walmart). There will be hot chocolate, hot teas, cookies and snacks by the fireplace. Bring your own skates or rent them from Family Ice Center. All are welcome!

Update all of your information on the sheets provided on the table outside the Guild Room, and in the narthex of the church building.  Do you still have a landline?  New cell phone #?  Changed your email?  We need it ready to print by January 23!  Please check on one of the packets – no need to change them all.

Are you looking for clients?  An electrician? Golf or ski partners?  Dentist?  Seeking to learn knitting or other fine skills?   I bet there are other parishioners who are interested!  Expand your professional and social networks by offering a few words about your vocation and/or avocations for publication in the 2017 Saint Mary’s Members and Friends Directory!  Email Beth Shaw at admin@smary.org or drop the information to the parish office by January 23.

Vestry and Parish Council joint meeting: Wed., Jan. 18, 6 PM

All committees, ministries & guilds to invited to send leaders or representatives to join the Vestry for a planning meeting at its January 18 meeting at 6pm with a pizza and salad dinner beginning at 5:30pm.  Come with visionary eyes and open hearts and minds to discuss the ways we can serve God and each other in 2017 and beyond.  

2017 Offering Envelopes are HERE … and will be in back of the church or on the Sign-up table outside the Guild Room!

If you forgot to check the box on your pledge form, but would like envelopes, simply sign up for them on the sign-up table outside the Guild Room. 

 

T’ai Chi Ch’uan Classes in the Parish House: Mondays beginning January 9

Tung Family Style :  For Beginners: Teens – Adults.  Weekly practice Mondays 6:00 pm

Beginning Monday January 9, 2017 in the Saint Mary’s auditorium

 $12 per class ($10 senior citizens from 65 years)  First class on the 9th includes demonstration of slow set

Souper Supper: 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month – Jan 13 and 27

Our free suppers in our Parish House Auditorium open to anyone and everyone. Please consider dropping in sometime between 5 – 7 PM on either evening for dinner served in a family-style setting and consisting of a hearty soup, salad, bread, homemade desserts and beverages. Emergency Fuel Fund

Please consider making a special offering to enable our support of those who need help with their heating bills this winter. Envelopes are available in the Sanctuary Prayer Books and in the Narthex. Thank you for all those who you will help!

Intergenerational Coffee Hour:  January 22, 2017 - Workshop

Join us  for either intergenerational coffee hour at 9am and /or 11am on Sunday, January 22  for our workshop to fill a few gaps in our local homeless community.  We will be making scarves from fleece material to be handed out as one of the Outreach projects for our Winter Mission Morning on February 12 at 9am when ‘going to church is putting our words into action by doing good in our community as Jesus did and taught us to do.  Be a part...be the church.

 

Calling ALL BOOKS!! Book, Bake and Soup Sale

In support of our Outreach mission projects: March 4

As part of our 2017 Outreach Project, S. Mary's is holding its Book, Bake & Soup Sale on Sat., March 4 , from 9 AM to 1 PM.  WE NEED YOU to:  donate books, videos, games & puzzles; sort books; sell books; BAKE for the bake sale; clean-up. Please sign up to help in whatever way you are able and willing.  There will soon be sign-up sheets outside the Guild Room.  Regarding books, games or puzzles:  Please leave all donations downstairs on the HUGE table in the big storage room.  Please, NO used textbooks, encyclopedia sets, or magazine sets.

St. Elizabeth’s has cold hands to warm up! 

As cold weather approaches, one of the biggest needs at St. E's is winter gloves (and mittens) for children, women and men. However, the biggest need is for large and extra-large gloves for men. If you are shopping and see gloves on sale...consider buying them and sending them in as your contribution. Thanks in advance!  Please drop them off in our St. Elizabeth’s box  near the Guild Room.

 VANAPALOOZA: January 6, Falmouth Congregational Church,  7 PM

Want to help a local quadriplegic remain independent? Peter’s been in a wheelchair for more than 40 years – since he was 19 years old.  

Enjoy music of many types?   Come to this benefit concert with music varying from a smoky, blues guitarist to classical violin and pianist to a tuba and ukulele group.  $10 suggested donation or visit this Go Fund Me site for Peter Leeman to simply help a neighbor. 

Youth Ministry

Guiding RAY  (Religious Adventures for Youth)

The Nursery remains open for our youngest disciples in the lower level of the Parish House beginning at 9:30 AM every Sunday.

Community Care & Nurture

Wisdom Seekers: every Tuesday at 10:30 AM  

This Bible study group meets on Tuesdays in the Guild Rm. All welcome!

Thursday Eucharist: every Thursday in the Chapel at 12 noon

This is an informal time to gather at the Lord’s Table with a meditation on the scripture or the saint of the day.

Noonday Prayer: every other weekday in the Chapel

Pause for 10 minutes of prayer together. You are also invited, wherever you may be, to STOP and PRAY with us in the Spirit at 12 noon for those in need, for our parish family, for our bishop, and for your own daily life with God.
