August 20, 2017 –  The Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost

This Sunday In the Pulpit

She earned her Masters plus 30 from the University of Virginia in the History of Religion.

Please be thinking about potential nominees for both bodies, including yourself.  More to follow in the September AVE.  FMI contact Nadine Timberlake ntimberlake@aol.com

Kick-Off Cookout and Carnival:  September 10 – Save the Date!!

It’s coming soon! Mark your calendars now and plan on joining together for our festive Kick-Off of a new program year.  Our Choir, Guiding RAY, the Middlers will all be gearing up for another great year.  Plans are coming together now for games and food as special treats as part of this year’s Carnival.

Serving The World

Souper SuppersA Chance to Serve - every 2nd & 4th Fridays, 5-7pm

As you begin to ponder your autumn schedule, please consider joining the Souper Supper team!  One of Saint Mary's most popular ministries, we serve home-made soup, salads, rolls, desserts at table, FREE to the community on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month.  Do you have a couple of hours every month or two?  Help set up (3-4pm) or; dish up (4:00-end) or clean-up (5:30-end).  Or you can make/provide desserts (3 dozen pieces).  Your Choice!!   A fun, fulfilling, very family-friendly ministry!  FMI:  Jennifer Gregg; jenniferanngregg@gmail.com

Would you like to be a Soup Angel in your neighorhood?

Do you have friends or neighbors who would enjoy a pint or quart of (frozen) homemade soup periodically?  Anyone who is coming home from vacation or a stint in the hospital who would welcome such a meal?  Anyone who is housebound temporarily or permanently?  Or are you, yourself, over-booked or "up against it" and would like to grab a soup dinner instead of cooking?  Please avail yourselves of the containers of delicious frozen Souper Supper soups in the Saint Mary's freezer for yourselves or others in need!    Just Because!!

We’re collecting!!  As part of our continuing support of Milestone, which helps people in recovery from substance abuse, Saint will be gathering some necessary items for their facilities.  The Outreach Committee is planning to coordinate this effort, and there will be a table to collect these items for Milestone at our Sept. 10 fall kickoff Sunday. We need:

6 Wall Clocks, 16 Quilts/Comforters (there are a limited number of quilts/comforters for patient beds and many are very worn/thin); Wash cloths;  Twin sheet sets;  Curtains; 2 Bathroom mats; 2 Shower curtains; 2 Wire rack stands (for bathrooms to set towels, clothes on, ect.) ; Crossword puzzle books; Mad-lib book;  Poster boards (for collages); Glue sticks;  Magazines; Small Journals (art journals);  Markers;  Colored Pencils;  Adult coloring books; (mandala-type books are really popular with patients); Gel pens; Craft scissors.
