Hurricane Harvey Aid through Episcopal Relief & Development

Let us all be active in praying for those whose lives are being destroyed in Texas by Hurricane Harvey and its aftermath. If the Holy Spirit is calling you to help in practical ways, please consider a gift to Episcopal Relief and Development. Our Gulf Coast parishes and dioceses know their communities and are in the best position to care for their neighbors in need with our support and help.

Sparkles NEWS

JOIN US in planning Sparkles for 2017.  The first organization meeting for Sparkles is this Thursday, September 7, at 5:30pm (note the new time) in the Guild Room.  This year, we’ll continue most of our great traditions, and tell you about a few new things, too.  We love seeing all our returning Sparklers AND having new people join us.  ANYONE who is interested in Sparkles is welcome.  Join us to make this a fun and fund-raising event.

ALSO, VISIT the Sparkles Table at the Welcome Back Celebration on Sunday, September 10, and get all your questions answered.  For newer parishioners, we would love to say hello and tell you all about Sparkles.   For returning parishioners, please come by and say hello, and pick up a gift box to fill.  After they are filled, just return them to the church, and we will see that they are wrapped and tagged, and ready to sell at the Sparkles Boutique on December 2.

Looking forward to another wonderful event!

Serving The World

We are collecting for Milestone!!

As part of our continuing support of Milestone, which helps people in recovery from substance abuse, Saint Mary’s is gathering some necessary items for their facilities.  The Outreach Committee is coordinating this effort, and there will be a table to collect these items for Milestone at our Sept. 10 fall Kickoff Carnival. Milestone has asked for:

Youth Ministry

Guiding RAY (Religious Adventures for Youth): Kickoff on Sept. 10

Our Guiding RAY programs for all young people ages 1 to 14 are planning to start up again on September 10.  New and exciting plans for the new program year!  For more information on Guiding RAY, please visit our website  www.smary.org . The Nursery remains open for our youngest disciples in the Guiding RAY area every Sunday morning for the later Eucharist.

Volunteer with us!

Saint Mary’s offers formation options for children ages 4 through 8th grade. We are always in need of more lead teachers and assistants to staff our many formation programs and the new structure is designed to make it easy to be involved. Want to help, but don’t know how? Would you like to work with a certain age group? Want to work behind the scenes, but not with the children? There are tasks for all, whether you wish to serve once a week, once a month, or once a year. E-mail Megan Akers for more information.   GuidingRAY@smary.org

Community Care & Nurture

Wisdom Seekers: launching an in-depth study of Romans on Sept. 5

This Bible study group meets on Tuesdays at 10:30 AM in the Guild Room. Everyone is welcome! This Autumn, the group will follow our Sunday focus on St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans and look at each week’s passage in depth.

Chapel Eucharist: back on Sept. 7: every Thursday in the Chapel at 12 noon

This is an informal time (in a beautiful space!) to gather at the Lord’s Table with a meditation on the scripture or the saint of the day and prayers for healing.

Noonday Prayer: every other weekday in the Chapel   Pause for 10 minutes of prayer together. You are also invited, wherever you may be, to STOP and PRAY with us in the Spirit at 12 noon for those in need, for our parish family, our bishop, and our own daily life with God.
