2019 Farm to Table Dinner and Auction

Plans are underway for the Summer auction and dinner. Emily Rodgers, a new parishioner, has agreed to chair the auction side of the event. Emily attended last year's auction but it would be helpful for her to meet with and benefit from brainstorming with a group.  Please join us Monday, May 20 at 6:30 pm at the Youth Room in the basement of the Parish Hall. Please park in the lower driveway as there is a large meeting for the Portland Community Chorus. We'll enjoy some food and beverages and share our ideas. Attending doesn't commit you to more than sharing ideas. It'll be fun to get together, and Emily will enjoy meeting everyone!

Youth Ministry

Guiding RAY (Religious Adventures for Youth)

Our Guiding RAY programs for all young people ages 0 to 14.  We gather all together beginning at 9:30am for Formation in the lower level of the Parish House with classes beginning at 10amOur classes are designed to both appeal to and offer our children an opportunity to learn key bible stories and to develop their relationship with God.  For more information on Guiding RAY, please visit our website  www.smary.org

The Nursery opens at 9am on regular Sundays for our youngest disciples in the Guiding RAY area every Sunday morning for the later Eucharist. Please contact Megan Akers, GuidingRAY@smary.org, if you are able to assist with care.

Today, we say farewell to Alison Hayward-McMonagle who has been our Nursery caregiver for several years as she moves to be closer to her family.  We thank her for her dedication to our infants and young toddlers.  We are grateful to her for sharing her gifts with us and will miss her smile, and her desire to serve God through her genuine love of children.  If you wish to share a note, card, or token of appreciation for Alison's ministry, we will collect any additions in the parish office or through Megan Akers or Janet Bowne. We'll see to it that she receives them collectively.

This week in Guiding RAY A new rotation begins this week and we are going to learn about the Early Church. Through a study of Acts 2: 42-47, kids will discover specific ways that the early church worked together as a team.  They will learn the goal of teamwork is to love God and others, based on Luke 10:27.  We will also utilize teamwork in the Bible lesson, game, object lesson, and art project.

During our 9:30 - 10:00 formation time.  Dr. G. is joining us this Sunday and teaching us about the anatomy of seeds. We will get hands on experience dissecting seeds and extracting chlorophyll from leaves.  All of this will help us prepare for planting our garden. The Saint Mary's Vegetable garden is located outside of the Guiding RAY classrooms. We plan, plant, tend and share the harvest from our garden with those in need. All are welcome to join us!

Middle School Youth Group: Meets today at 10 AM in the youth room. All kids in grades 5-8 are welcome to join us as we begin learning forms and prayers from The Book of Common Prayer and creating our own. We use a combination of games, lessons, and reflection to get the most out of our time together.  Please come!
