2014 Leadership Nominations – Deadline this Wednesday
The Nominating Committee is inviting you to prayerfully submit nominations for parish leadership. The committee will review names, propose a slate of candidates, and publish the slate well before the Annual Parish Meeting on January 26, 2014. We request all nominees to be at least 15 years of age and communicants in good standing. Please feel free to nominate yourself. There is much for parish leaders to do as we continue to grow and expand our mission and ministry opportunities. Please place completed form in the nomination box in the Church Narthex or on the Sign-Up Table, or mail to S. As it has been said, many hands make light work! We need all of you to lend a hand.
Advent Wreath-making Workshop December 1st We kick off the Advent season with this wonderful tradition at 3pm. Plan on bringing the family and creating a tradition to bring home. We will supply all that is needed (a $10 contribution would help defray costs) but if you have greens (branches of 8 - 24” in length of juniper, hemlock, cedar or fir - but NOT pine) and garden clippers that would be helpful.
Followed by the Advent Lessons & Carols and our Advent Celebratory and Memorial Tree Lighting
Youth Ministry Notes
“The Middlers”: Sundays at 9 AM until Thanksgiving
Every Sunday morning, all Middle Schoolers are invited to meet together downstairs for games and a time to learn about our spiritual ancestors. Led by Jeff and Diane Campbell. The Middlers will take a break during the holidays and restart in early 2014!
Visit with Portland Young Life: Wednesday, November 20, 7:24 – 9:00 pm
All teens and interested adults are invited to witness the energy and vitality of Young Life by visiting with the Portland Club, which meets at the Deering Grange (1408 Washington Ave). If you choose not to join in the fun, you can even sit in the balcony and safely observe from above! Also, our next meeting of the newly forming Greater Falmouth Young Life Committee is on December 3 at 7 PM. Ask Fr. Nathan for more information!
FUN IS GOD High School group gathers on Nov 24th
11:30am – 1:15pm on Sunday, Nov 24th : “Diversity Delivers a Different Doctrine”.
We will meet at Preble St. Soup Kitchen to help the staff serve a meal at the soup kitchen to those who may be less fortunate, with time to talk and eat afterward. Questions? Call Jane Stegemann 797-8422 or Ruth 239-0482. All youth are welcome. Bring your friends!
Godly Play - Christian Formation for our younger Christians
We offer a Montessori-based program called Godly Play to learn about God, the Bible, and the Church with our children. Family Chapel begins at 9:15am followed by Guiding RAY classes (age 4 through 5th grade) begin downstairs in the Parish House at 9:30am. The nursery also opens at 9:15 for our infants and preschoolers.
Serving The World
Haiti Mission Trip: November 9-18
Please PRAY for our missionaries (Becky, Kelly and Bruce) while they are on this trip to Haiti to work with the youth at Institution Univers: for their safety and health, for them to serve as channels of God’s grace in Haiti, and for them to experience Christ in that place and to bring back to us renewed energy and passion for mission.
African Team Ministries Sale: one more Sunday, Nov. 10th
The Outreach Committee will be offering wonderful and unique crafts, jewelry and gifts from East Africa for sale in the Guild Room after the services TODAY, November 10th. Great Christmas gifts! Enjoy shopping for distinctive treasures. All sales go directly to help vital church ministries in East Africa.

Eucharistic Ministers training: TODAY, November 10th at 11:30 AM
All those who feel called to this ministry of assisting at the Lord’s Table are invited to meet in the Church this morning for a time of training with our clergy.
Art and Faith Dialogue Group
Everyone is welcome to join this open group discussion of Art & Faith in all its forms. The discussion group meets on each Sunday morning at 9:15am in the Guild Room.
Every Thursday at Saint Mary’s
All are welcome for a time of spiritual refreshment and community. If you need help with transportation or childcare in order to participate, provisions can be made.

S. Mary’s Book Group
Please come!! We will be discussing (Pulitzer Prize-winning author) Wallace Stegner’s book Crossing to Safety on Tuesday, December 3rd at 2pm. It is a wonderful narrative about the lifelong relationship of two couples. You are warmly encouraged and welcome to read and join us!
