Saint Mary’s Weekly News
September 17, 2017 – The Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost
Bring your Back Packs! Briefcases, Laptop cases, Purses! Badges!
Sunday at 10 AM we bless our backpacks and all things that assist our daily life. May we always remember to thank God for the blessings of these devices and many gifts that we have. May we also remember to ask for strength and determination to do God’s works of goodness and remain open to learning at our school, work and home.
Martin Luther on PBS
This Sunday night at 8pm on Channel 10, PBS will air a show on Martin Luther that will add some background to our fall study of Romans and the Reformation celebration that we’ll celebrate ecumenically on October 29. Check it out http://www.pbs.org/empires/martinluther/
Hurricane Assistance through Episcopal Relief & Development
So many lives have been affected by recent hurricanes and natural disasters! Let us all be active in praying for those who are suffering. If the Holy Spirit is calling you to help in practical ways, please consider a gift to Episcopal Relief and Development. In all the affected areas, we have missions and dioceses who know their communities and are in the best position to care for their neighbors in need with our support and help and preparedness training.
RSCM Training Camps: Sundays at 9:30 AM in the Chapel
All families and children are called to gather in the Chapel before Guiding RAY begins for a brief time of singing with Mr. Bruce Fithian.

Pre-k – grade 1 class room: Julie Otte will be leading our activity about how to BEE forgiving.
Our 2 and 3 graders: Janet Bowne will lead the lesson and they will explore forgiveness and the real reason for erasers on pencils.
Our 4,5, and 6 graders: Heather Gale will not keep ‘score’ on how many times to forgive as they play a game of soccer.
Saint Mary’s Middle Schoolers – We’re now running and the 5 kids that were a part of Meg Hurdman’s class are looking forward to learning more about Paul’s life and a bit of bible baseball. Do you know a 7th or 8th grader? Please share with them that !
Join our Nursery Ministry
We are in need of volunteers each Sunday to help care for our littlest Saint Marion’s. The nursery is open each Sunday from 9:45 – 11:00. Anyone who enjoys reading stories, having tea parties and building amazing structures is encouraged to volunteer (teens, grandmas, grandpas, etc.). Please contact Julie Otte, juliemomotter@aol.com to sign up today!
Volunteer with us!
Saint Mary’s offers formation options for children ages 4 through 8th grade. We are always in need of more lead teachers and assistants to staff our many formation programs and the new structure is designed to make it easy to be involved. Want to help, but don’t know how? Would you like to work with a certain age group? Want to work behind the scenes, but not with the children? There are tasks for all, whether you wish to serve once a week, once a month, or once a year. E-mail Megan Akers for more information GuidingRAY@smary.org
