November 5, 2017 – All Saints’ Sunday
Getting Ready for Sunday!
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God” (Romans 12:2).
Daylight Savings Ends: THIS Sunday, November 5: Turn clocks back!
Stewardship 2018: God’s Work, Our Hands
Last year, our Mutual Study of Ministry yielded goals for our parish, including growing our engagement for our youth programs. We concluded that in order to do this effectively, we needed a Director of Christian Formation. We hired Megan Akers just a year ago to shape our children’s program, Guiding RAY. Megan, working in concert with parishioners, has channeled her energy into creating programs for our children. Sunday, November 5’s Faith Family Sunday is one part of the program. On Sunday, November 12, we will have our first Messy Church event from 4-6 pm for ALL ages. Additionally, Bruce Fithian and Priscilla Rigg have developed the Royal School of Church Music Angel Choir. The two programs offer wonderful offerings to support our children on their faith journey. These programs are two excellent examples of how your financial support is so critical to sustaining our efforts.
After you’ve reorganized your life having lost electricity for several days, please take a minute to consider a pledge for 2018 to support Saint Mary’s. All pledges are celebrated. Together our gifts of time, talent and treasure multiply to support all of our programs.

The Nursery opens at 9:45am for our youngest disciples in the Guiding RAY area every Sunday morning for the later Eucharist.
This week in Guiding RAY
This is a special Sunday as it is our first Faith Family Sunday. Worship is the most important work of our congregation and all ages are welcome. By including children in worship we help them learn how adults worship and sing praises to God. Our kids will be participating by singing hymns, reading the scripture and praying the Prayers of the People. Our Faith Family Sundays are held on the first Sunday of the month; a time when we can all enjoy communal worship.
Next Week! MESSY CHURCH: November 12, 4:00 - 6:00 PM
Messy Church is for everybody! It's not a kids program, it's not an adult study, it's all ages together mixing faith with our messy relationships, messy questions, messy schedules and our messy lives.
A few of the activities planned:
- The older Guiding RAY kids (formerly the Middlers) will finish constructi ng their “Paul Tent”. Join them under their creation to explore a bit of Paul’s world with some stories and traditional eats.
- We will send words of hope to Any Refugee.
- We will plan ahead some expressions of gratitude to go along with our Thanksgiving feasts.
- We will make prayer bracelets and holy smokes for Sparkles.
FREE dinner!
It’s going to be messy, and fun, and but we also know God shows up .If you would like to be a part of the Messy Church planning team please contact Megan Akers.
