Parish Council Meeting on September 12th
After a brief hiatus, the Parish Council will be meeting on Wednesday September 12, from 5:30-7pm.  The Parish Council consists of the clergy, wardens, staff, and the heads of the guilds and committees here at S. Mary's.  During the meeting we will be discussing, among other things, upcoming events, going over the calendar and planning the Ministry Fair (formerly the Volunteer Fair.) There are some guilds/committees that currently need chairs or co-chairs, so if you have an interest please consider joining us!  If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact me by email (christmascollect@aol.com) or phone (797-3993)

Legacy Project Update
The foundation for the new office wing/chapel is in and framing is imminent. Waterproofing/water diversion around the entire Parish House is almost complete and framing in the Guiding Ray spaces has begun. In the rectory, the water diverting "french drain" system is complete and the Buildings and Grounds committee is busily patching and making the necessary small repairs inside, preparatory to painting.
Exterior trim and window frame colors have been selected! The moss green trim on the rectory will be refreshed and that same moss green trim will be added as trim to the Parish House. A sandy/grey color has been selected for the window trim for both buildings.
Come see it all during private guided tours of the construction site with Dick Miller on the second and fourth Fridays of each month at 4pm. Hard hats provided and all ages welcome!
REAL Housewives to resume this fall
The small group study "the REAL Housewives of (1st Century) Palestine" is preparing to resume after Labor Day.  The group completed a review of the roles of women in the four Gospels and is now going to complete the study with a review of the Book of Acts and other sources on church history during the spread of  Christianity from Jerusalem, to Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth. As the details are solidified we will announce the particulars of the starting date, place and time as soon as possible.  All are welcome and encouraged to participate!  FMI contact Bryan (bd1949@maine.rr.com) or Susan (sdench@maine.rr.com).

Best Wishes and Prayers from The Reverend John Widdows

It has been my privilege and pleasure to spend these three Sundays with you as you look forward to the arrival of your new Rector, The Reverend Nathan Ferrell.  I have enjoyed my time with you these Sundays.

As members of St. Luke’s Cathedral my wife, Cynthia, and I are active on the Healing Team and in Diocesan positions and activities.  A new office at the Cathedral has been opened for me by the Dean and Vestry of St. Luke’s for my ministry as a Licensed Pastoral Counselor which will be offered to parishioners and members of other area churches, as well as to the public at large.  Additionally, I continue to lead 3- to 6-hour workshops and retreats for vestries and other church groups.

I remain available as a resource to you and your new Rector as you welcome him and move confidently into your next steps of growth.
