Saint Mary’s Weekly News
February 8, 2015 – The Fourth Sunday after Epiphany
Camino de Santiago: Experience the Pilgrim’s Way – February 11 @ 7 PM
On Wednesday, we watched “The Way” with Martin Sheen. Our pilgrimage discussion continues this Wednesday! Come and learn about this ancient pilgrimage path by hearing the experiences and viewing the photos of two Saint Marian’s who have walked that way: the Rev. Portia Hirschman and Betsy Elliman. All are welcome!
Stewardship 2015 Update
We are all God’s servants, working together; you are God’s field, God’s building. (1 Cor. 3:9)
We are getting so close to our goal of $265,000 for 2015. As of 2/5, 136 households have pledged $ 236,794. Thank you to everyone who has offered their pledge!! That means we only have $ 28,206 to go to meet our pledge goal. If all of the remaining families would commit to pledging, we could easily make our goal. Pledging ensures that Guiding RAY can continue to deepen our children's relationship to God and that our outreach ministry can support Souper Supper, our ministry in Haiti, our Long Creek Program to name a few. Getting to $265,000 ensures that we have the infrastructure to support our faith journey with salaries and other necessary foundational expenses. Please consider making your pledge today!
2015 Offering Envelopes: on the Sign-Up Table now!
Our 2015 Stewardship Campaign begins their wrap up today, but offering envelopes for the entire year are available to those who have requested them at any time. If you would like to have offering envelopes, please contact Beth Shaw in the Office to request these.
Serving The World
St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry
There is a tremendous need for winter clothes at St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry. Men’s clothes are particularly wanted: winter coats (large and extra large), undershirts and underwear, winter boots (the larger, the better) and sweaters. It would be greatly appreciated if your donations are clean, folded and placed in bags small enough to carry easily when transporting the items to the pantry. Thank you very much for your contributions. Also, please note that the next date for Saint Mary’s to volunteer at the pantry is February 10 from 9:00 to 11:00. If you would like more information or need a ride, please contact Judith Brooks at 781-2097.

Noonday Prayer every other weekday (Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri) in the Chapel
This takes 10 minutes and all are welcome. You are also invited, wherever you may be, to STOP and PRAY at 12 noon for those in need, for our parish family, for our bishop, and for your own daily life with God.

We are gathering at the church EVERY TUESDAY AT 1:00pm to stitch. Some are knitting prayer scarves, some making dryer balls, some quilting, some making mitten, or socks, or vests. We help each other and chat about whatever we want. There is laughter as well as concern for our world. Everyone is welcome to an hour (and a half) of productive fellowship.
Mathematics is FUN: for 2nd – 8th graders
The MMSETS Program is offering Enrichment Mathematics Program for grades 2-5 (at 3:30 p.m.) and for grades 6-8 (at 5:30 p.m.) in our Parish House. The program brings back the curiosity, relevance and excitement of mathematics through puzzles, mathematical games and building modular origami constructions. As far as the students are concerned, they have fun, while we teach them to think mathematically, the ability to encode ideas in linguistic, symbolic way, translating it into diagrams and graph languages and coordinate the activation of various regions of the brain.
