September 8th, Welcome Home Sunday!
This Sunday, our regular Sunday worship schedule resumes (8am and 10am); the choir returns after their summer break; and Guiding RAY is open for all children. And we invite everyone to come together and celebrate with an all-parish picnic and carnival around 11:15 AM.
Welcome Home Picnic: Our Hospitality Committee will provide the burgers and hotdogs and drinks. We ask you to bring salads and desserts - big enough to share! If your last name begins with
A-L please bring a salad,
M-Z please bring a dessert.

Welcome Home Carnival: Help us to kick off our new Program Year with energy! The events will include water balloons, relay races, face painting, pastel drawings, guessing games, bingo, lawn bowling, and of course, the bounce house. If you can host a game, we need you!! Also sign up to bake a whole cake for the Cake Walk that day also. To help out or provide a cake, please email Heather Gale hpgale@earthlink.net . Let’s work together to celebrate the children of S. Mary’s and to welcome them back for a new year in Guiding RAY!

Dialogue of Art and Faith
Everyone is welcome to join this open group discussion of Art & Faith in all its forms. The discussion group will start up on Sunday, Sept 15th at 9:15am and continue on Sundays. This is for those who couldn’t get enough in the spring class (reportedly - lots of you!) and for those who had other things going at the time but wanted to attend.
Bible Study @ the Hurdman’s: “Your Bible! The Story Begins”
An eight-week introduction to Bible Study will begin on September 11th and continue until October 30th (7-8:30 pm). SIGN-UP in the Parish House or contact Meg Hurdman: hurdman@maine.rr.com. No experience is needed. Maximum of 10 peole.
Be on the watch for ‘Beans of Peace’
In honor of Cissie Lindemann’s involvement in starting the St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry, Mary Allen Lindeman has selected St. Elizabeth's as Coffee By Designs’ charity of the month for September. They are creating a special blend of coffee named "Beans of Peace" and it will go on sale shortly. St. Elizabeth’s will receive $1 for each bag sold PLUS, on each bag, will be information on St. Elizabeth's.

Come Learn about Godly Play
Godly Play utilizes a sensory-based method for biblical, spiritual, and liturgical instruction applicable to both children and adults. Come experience this program for yourself downstairs in the Guiding RAY rooms.

YOUTH MINISTRY NOTES
“Middlers” group for Middle Schoolers: Sundays at 9 AM
Every Sunday morning, all Middle Schoolers are invited to meet together downstairs for games and a time to learn about our spiritual ancestors. Led by Jeff and Diane Campbell.
Falmouth Unites Now In Serving GOD (FUN IS GOD!): High School group
All High Schoolers are invited to come out for monthly town-wide projects with youth from all churches in town. Community Service hours will be given. These projects are organized by local youth and are open to all. Bring your friends!
First project: Sunday, September 29, 4-6 PM: Rejoicing for Ripe Red = Apple Picking for Falmouth Food Pantry. Meet at Orchard Hill Farm, 36 Orchard Rd in Cumberland. Pick apples to share with those in need at the Food Pantry, then eat fresh delicious homemade donuts. Questions? Contact Jane Stegemann at jhsteg@gmail.com .
Planning ahead…Episcopal Youth Event (EYE): July 7-13, 2014
This is the triennial, international Episcopal Youth Event which is going to be held at Villanova University in Philadelphia. Mark your calendars now! Fr. Nathan will lead a group of youth to the City of Brotherly Love for this awesome event and to see the Liberty Bell and to eat cheesesteaks! Over 1200 youth from 16 nations gathered together.
Coastal Clean-Up: Saturday, Sept. 28th, 11am – 1 pm
Help to clean up the shore of the Bay as part of the International Coastal Clean-Up effort. A free lunch will be provided afterward at Saint Mary’s for all volunteers!
Episcopal Identity Retreat: Saturday, Sept 21st, 10am – 4 pm
At the Gilsland Farm Audubon Center in Falmouth. Join Fr. Nathan and the Confirmation/Reception/Reaffirmation class for a discussion of the meaning of “Episcopalian” and the future of our Church. Potluck lunch = bring a salad or dish to share. Also bring walking shoes and $10 to help cover the rental fee. Sign-up now!

September 21st GIANT Tag Sale to benefit YOU and our Haiti Mission
Sign up for a tag sale table for our big September 21st church-wide yard sale! You can bring, price, sell anything around the house you no longer want/need and take home 50% of the profits! [Outreach will the remaining profit to buy books and supplies for the school in Haiti where they will be teaching on their mission trip in November.

Parish Council Meeting on September 25th
The Parish Council will be meeting on Wednesday September 25, from 6 - 7:30pm The Parish Council consists of the clergy, wardens, staff, and the heads of all parish guilds and committees. During the meeting we will be discussing, among other things, upcoming events and going over the calendar There are some guilds/committees that currently need chairs or co-chairs, so if you have an interest please consider joining us! EFM - Education for Ministry
Is God's call touching your heart? Do you feel drawn to further exploring your faith? Do you seek to better understand how the Scriptures apply to your life. to help you discern your most challenging decisions? Education for Ministry offers a seminary program structured to make the teachings of the Bible relevant to today's life. The four-year program examines Old Testament, New Testament & church history. One does not need to commit to all four years! The $350 per year fee includes all reading materials and mentor fees. Scholarships may be available through the Diocese. The course meets Thursday nights (7-9pm) from September through May at Trinity Church on Forest Avenue in Portland. Daily Noonday Prayer at Saint Mary’s
Please join us any weekday for a brief (10 min.) Noonday Prayer in the Chapel, and let’s remember to pray for one another at 12 Noon every day, no matter where we might be.
Eucharistic Visitors take Holy Communion to those unable to worship with us on Sunday morning. The Eucharistic Visitor today Ginny Stelk. During the week if you or someone you know needs communion, please call the Parish Office. If you wish to learn more about this special ministry, feel free to speak with Deacon Christine at any time.
